What do you think about websites like CHEATERVILLE.COM & TheDIRTY.com that expose cheaters?

These sites allow anyone anywhere in the world to post the full names, email addresses, personal information, pictures, etc. about the men/women who cheated on them!

What's even more crazy is that per say the accused cheater were to ask the sites to take the posts down, the sites make it very clear in their policies that they won't & that they are protected by laws which allow them to keep posts up no matter how slanderous or untrue the accusations are!!

These sites are easy to navigate & use & since you can remain anonymous, it'd be hard for the accused cheater(s) to pinpoint a specific person for the post(s) & sue them!

These sites have millions of viewers & are becoming very popular!

It's so bad that all you have to do is simply type in the first & last name of the cheater and if there is any info about them, it'll come up!

Not only that but let's say someone puts up a post about you being a cheater. Well if someone or a business types in your full name into Google, the link to that post will show up in the search results!!!

Do you guys feel like sites like these have more advantages OR disadvantages— YOUR THOUGHTS.....

I personally feel half & half about this!

On 1 hand, sites like these allow you another form/way of sort of doing a "background" check on someone.

And considering most people wouldn't believe an ex who personally contacted them & told them the exact same story, I think it'd be a lot more believable that the person you're dating is a scumbag if you see that someone was willing to go to great lengths to expose them!

If I discovered that the guy I was dating was featured on a site like that, I wouldn't necessarily believe it at 1st sight BUT I'd def. break it off b/c I wouldn't want to be involved with someone who clearly pisses other people off to the extent that they feel it's necessary to expose someone publicly!

I wouldn't take the risk!!

HOWEVER, because the sites don't force you to prove your accusations in any way, it's to be expected that plenty of people have posts up about them that are completely or half untrue which isn't fair even if 1 part of the post is a lie!

I think that the site can do more damage than good, depending on the person who puts up the post!

Exactly what GOOD could a site like that do? Prevent people from seeing cheaters?

The end justifies the means? As in it being ok to publicly humiliate a person as long as it prevents others from hooking up with them. Aww how cute, heartbreakers are the new pedophiles.

I smell a new reality show.

Anyone ever consider if the information is coming from someone who just wants to slander another person's name and attack their character? I remember one time, someone who created one of those sites was a cunt about it. She seemed really keen on ripping at dudes based on stuff other women say and would not have any of what a guy who wanted his info removed since he supposedly did nothing of the sort was saying. Also, it's possible that potential love interests are not the only ones checking this info out; this can be used to commit crimes.

Well if someone would see their partner/crush on that site & not believe it anyway, so technically the site did NO damage to the accused cheater lol

There are slots on the website that allow you to post "PROOF" like providing personal emails, pictures or recorded conversations b/w you & the accused cheater. They make room for "proof" on the site simply so the people who aren't making it up can prove it.

Not saying it's justified or right but hey, people have been publicly shaming people forever! Whether it's the media & all the magazines we read about people who do messed up things that aren't technically any of our business!

We don't mind shaming politicians, athletes, celebrities, or putting out a person's business through social media, or simply spreading rumors around town about someone!

People expose cheaters & those who have done them wrong all the time & just in more passive-aggressive or anonymous ways.

Hell half of what you read or hear about someone is from some disgruntled employee, or ex or whatever! But restaurants can't sue you for having an opinion. Celebrities rarely win cases when they sue magazines. Facebookers rarely get sued & actually lose the lawsuit when they post their "opinion" about someone!

Public shaming is perfectly "normal" when it's done in other outlets but for some reason it's satanic to do so on a specific website dedicated to that specific purpose! THE IRONY

Those sites will win every lawsuit 1. Like they have for the past 5 years & 2. They'll remain just like the TV SHOW "CHEATERS" will always be around!

The show CHEATERS doesn't necessarily always expose someone actually & technically "cheating." Hell the producers might catch someone just simply having lunch with a person unknown to their partner (could be their cousin for goodness sakes) but the producers will allow the partner to whoop azz & thus now that person is deemed a cheater to the WORLD even though it may not "technically" be true!

Why aren't we just as offended at shows/scenarios like that lol

Specifically b/c serial cheaters often spread STDS, & create children they ultimately abandon, I think these kinds of sites could actually do SOME (not all) good in alerting women/men about potential predators they should watch for.

And even if the site prevents just ONE woman/man from such an evil person (and stds/pregnancy) I don't see how that'd be a bad thing!

Those sites may not be around long after someone sues them and the person who gave them the info gut violating their privacy.

Nope. The owners of these websites took that into consideration before creating the business of publicly exposing cheaters. And they are ALL backed by loopholes in laws that are in almost all states!

Matter of fact, they post those laws all over the website & even have a FAQ section about it just in case people disbelieve that it's possible.

You'd have to sue the PERSON, not the WEBSITE if someone posts something untrue about you! Same goes for social media. You can't sue MYSPACE or TWITTER (and you surely won't have the power to shut it down) simply b/c someone makes an untrue statement about you!

You'd have to sue the actual person BUT since a lot of the posters like to remain anonymous, it's almost impossible to prove that a specific person made that post! And the sites say they will give NO help to any person or agency to provide info on who the original poster is!

Sucks but it's the law!!!

Who knows, you might get on 1 of those sites & see the name of a person whose cheated on you, did you dirty or hurt you & feel differently about sites like those lol

I found out that sites like that exist b/c I got an email from a friend that my ex from many years ago was on the site!

That's when I was like holy crap!! lol Everything that was posted about my ex was true. He'd done a lot more to other women than he'd done to me (every relationship will be different).

The 1st thing I thought was ughh I wish I had seen this post BEFORE I started dating him long ago!! I'm fortunate that I didn't get any STDS or unwanted pregnancies as a result of that pregnancy but I'm sure that had I, I would've def wished I had saw the post before I met him

And knowing me, I would've absolutely believed the posts!! And even if I wouldn't have believed it, I would've still cut ties b/c again, I don't engage in relationships where they either personally give me drama themselves or where they're constantly getting drama from others like ex's/friends/etc
