Yeah, if it can be done in a healthy way then it can actually turn out to be a good thing for everyone involved.
If breaking up or staying together can be done in a healthy way?
I appreciate your contribution to the topic.
I read an article that stated 82% of children from divorced parents aged 14-22 believed their parents separating was for the best, and that parents should not stay together for the kids.
I can see where trying your best to make it work would be the best solution, but when every effort fails and the results are continuously the same, I think it's time to throw in the towel.
I understand it's a life-changing decision not to be taken lightly, and it's so difficult for a parent to be away from their child, but when the person you're with just doesn't make you happy anymore, you deserve to find someone who will.
My parents stayed together until my youngest brother was starting his last year of highschool. When they told us they were separating it wasn't a shock. We knew they had been miserable for a long long time.
They said they would have divorced sooner but decided to stay together until the kids were grown. It's fucked up that they put it on us. No kid wants to know that their parents sacrificed their happiness because of them.

Personally I think it's a bad idea. Not only am I a divorced parent, I come from divorced parents and grandparents. In my opinion, their heart is in the right place when they do this, because of course you don't want to hurt your child(ren), but it's a bad idea. We deserve to be with someone who makes us happy, and as someone who went through her parents separating and worked with children for many years, I can tell you children are adaptable. As long as the parents work together and don't bad-mouth one another in front of the child(ren) they will adjust. There's no way I was gonna stay with my douchebag ex-husband for our daughter, but I know people who do this. What are your thoughts/feelings/experiences on the subject?
