The saying goes, when you love something let it go and if it comes back it's yours forever.
What if you loved someone, let them go- they come back and leave again—

THEN WHAT?!?!?! :-)

then you are cured from getting involved with Geminis forever hopefully

Love is special. We shouldn't be wasting it on dickheads.

Gotta agree with this.. and i have to learn this lesson still... We met, we dated, we broke up, he disappeared, he came back, we professed feelings, he left again.. the end.

Also, to OP: Let it go. You may love it, but it doesn't love you. And if on the off chance it does, it's not mature enough to fully love you. A mature person knows that love and loving someone is a choice and an action but not always a feeling. An immature person sees love as purely a feeling and narcissists see it as some sort of ego feeding happiness.

Anyone like that will only continue to hurt you in new ways. And they won't change, not for a person. People only ever change for themselves.

And to that, Elly..I say AAAAAAND Scene!

You hit the nail RIGHT on the head and I SINCERELY appreciate it. you are SO correct. Immaturity. Actions didn't match words. No Bueno for me..

SHORTII

there is a book
OF HUMAN BONDAGE
sometimes with all people things stand in the way of love
believe me its not always easy being me
sometimes people will leave a relationship because it is best for the other person
the person may love so much that they give you up because they think its better for you.

good luck

I don't think he did that, but I understand. That's more what I'm doing. I am letting him go..just because I love him that much.

That actually works !!!!!

Him leaving isn't you letting somethign happen, him leaving is you having no choice except to deal with it.

For that saying to work .. it has to be you letting go of him when he niether of you actually want the break up.

this is so true it blew me away. its shocking to realise i may be more mature than i knew. i do believe love & loving people is a choice. you can't always 'fall into' it. that suggests a certain degree of helplessness. what then, when you 'fall in love' with someone else? a lesser evolved person would probably up and leave, pursuing the new shiny thing. but somebody with maturity is conscious of their decision to love you...and that for me, is a keeper kind of person

I loved my dog to no end... I had to let him go... he'll never come back to me *cries* 😢

stop it - you will start me blubbing.

dogs come to us and are our buddies and we are blessed with their love for a little while and then they have to go back to doggie heaven where they spend eternity terrorizing cats, postmen and parking meter attendants.

He never terrorized anyone and never would, he would even lick the cat... he was a Virgo after all, loved everyone and everything; calm, cool and collective!! But, I did just have to put him down Mon. Still very upset about it! He wasn't even moving when I brought him in, it was hard. REALLY, REALLY HARD! I just hope he knows how much I loved him. I'm sure he does, but I can't help but wonder. Do they know? Do they know how much we really love them?

yes of course he knows.
he thinks he was so lucky that you were his person and you loved him enough to not let him suffer.
That's a true friend.

I was lying with him most of the day telling him I love him, telling him mommy would make it all better. I was watching him die. It was horrible. I had to carry him to the car and then from the car and put him on the table, he didn't even move, not to readjust himself or anything. I didn't know if he would be alive when I even got there. He was that bad. One of the worst things to go through in my life. I had to call out sick Tues, I was so sick to my stomach. Still am.

^^THIS

The above quoted statement is singularly THE best advice I have ever read on this entire forum.
As a result, I have an innocuous girl-crush on said poster.

Amazingly, this advice, had I heard it and heeded it 2 years ago. Would have saved me serious heartbreak, about 100 cartons of cigarrettes, and several fifths of Hennessy Black...

::sigh::

You're awesome, ellybd!!

If the two of you are letting each other go .... then maybe it was only lust/infatuation and not even love at all.

Fine line .... infatuation isn't love, yet, is so close to feeling the same that is can trick you.

I would say the difference is in this letting go you talk about .... if you two really loved each other, then there would be no leaving

I had occasion to be sitting in a hotel lobby a while ago. Chick walked in. A real glamour. Not much make up, just a gorgeous girl. She had one of those tops that didn't quite reach the top of her jeans and those silly jeans that stop at your hips instead of making it all the way up to your waist (WHY— did they run out of material—?)

Anyway, she is standing at the counter talking to the concierge and instead of being awestruck by her beauty I was constantly distracted as she kept tugging her top down and pulling her friggin jeans up.
It was so annoying - I just wanted to enjoy the scenery for a moment.

Where are the fashion police when you need them? I know they sometimes have entire decades off....
