Off subject...

Suzy- "The wise old man asks you this, "in your next life how would you like to return as the black woman in Africa who is under a death sentence for adultery and will soon be stoned to death?".
Nothing to do with Chrisitanity these things are done in the name of ala."

Actually, I think this has nothing to do with religion at all. Whether it's done in the name of Allah now or in the name of Catholicism in the 1400s Europe where women were burned on the stake or in the name of whatever other religion you can think of- it is still the same thing. It is the culture that dooms people to inferior positions and (i hesitate to use the word but I can think of no other) uncivilized condemnations.

Also, again, you state that we have one life as if it is fact- you do not state it as in "i believe" or such as everyone else does in order to keep down the antagonism. (ex: "I don't believe in an afterlife" as opposed to "there is no afterlife")

And Star... I have no money to give so I haven't given money to charities and such. I am giving my time and effort for the sake of helping others but I am forced to do it through a religious institution instead of being able to do it through a non-profit secular organization.

Durrie- I loved your post... perfect.

Morgan- You confuse me but I think I agree (though I can't remember exactly what you said)

Parallax (sp?) "I see people very lackadaisical towards religion, whereas in the poorer country's I've visited, people are very devoted to their religion, and it's a central part of their lives, because they depend on it. That is why I suggested MAYBE there is a correlation."

The correlation, I believe, (though I could be proven wrong) is that in poorer countries where people are dying from starvation and war and crime is abundant, they need hope that all is not in vain. In richer and freer countries, we can have a full life easier without religion, we don't need the hope as much. Make any sense?

I totally understand your inability to give money at this time, Gwen...and do not meant that you should...I was only stating who I am most likely to give to! It is not a religious organization!...unless, I have a feeling that it will go to the most good of the people...

The greater good...that is what I attempt to promote!

There was a time in my life where I didn't have the luxury of giving...except in used clothing...

Gwen, you are such a compassionate person, I love that about you.

Star, that's very admirable...I don't think I could handle that emotionally. It is so hard for me to see sick people and people who are suffering, that I distance myself from it, which is such an unevolved way to deal with things like that I realize, but I would be afraid I couldn't handle it and would make it worse for them...I still can't visit my great grandmother in her nursing home because...actually I don't know why...I'm scared to or something, I'm afraid of something but I really don't know what it is. I feel so evil not visiting her, but I just can't bring myself to do it 😢 And then she'll pass away, and I'll feel horrible for the rest of my life about not visiting her, so I'd better just buck up and do it soon.
