Starlover and Ellycakes cover it well for me. I was composing the below while Ellycakes was posting so I didn't know about it.
I like straight forward people who are honest but tactful, and people who are genuinely interested in getting to know more about me before embarking on anything else potentially - they show some discretion and caution but they're friendly about it.
A Cap man I dated told me, after one of our earliest conversations, that when he listened to me talk, he tried to get a sense of the person behind the words, and what he picked up on (vibe, for example) matched what I was saying - he could detect that - and that made him feel comfortable to continue getting to know me. He had a Scorp moon so maybe that helped.
Thirsty people are very easy to spot - no matter what they say, their vibe usually makes it obvious and I'm put off quickly. My vibe seems to make them stay away to start with, and I don't hang out in places where that might be more often the case with what people are after, like bars.
Looking back, no relationship I was in started with a man complimenting my looks first up - everyone I ended up dating opened the conversation in another way and didn't mention my looks until they got to know me a bit more. They later would tell me that they were very aware of feeling attraction to me and maybe felt nervous but they didn't mention that.
