Ask him. He was honest enough in the beginning to tell you that he wasn’t ready to commit and still needed to sow his wild oats, so it seems like he’s honest and willing to be open with you. Why clamp down on the communication now and seek answers elsewhere when you can get them from him?

Oh and I probably should tell you the reason he is my ex lol.Well...about a year ago we broke up because I couldn’t handle hid coldness anymore(knowing what a passionate guy he was with me)and he told me he can’t commit anymore cause he wants to have more relationships and that he likes random girls and fantasizes about them.
I tried to understand him because we are pretty young (both 20) so I figured I should let him live his life because I really love him.
Now we talk again and he told me he didnt date nor sleep with anyone since our breakup because it felt wrong to do it with someone he’s not in love with.
We also agreed to be friens with benefit but I feel like it’s not working for neither of us because there are still great feelings between us.
i should mention we’re both in med school and it’s really tough but he got really low grades and suffered from depression because of that.And still does.
So? What do you think he wants from me? Why does he still want me to be a part of his life?And also why is he sometimes hot and cold?
