Mine was this summer in Croatia...the Adriatic and coast is pristine, only one speed boat on it, though I hear that property is selling fast and going through the roof...
Driving from Split to Hercegovina was a trip...roads were built by the Austrians in the 30s (when it was still the Austro-Hungarian empire)...but the mountains are so high it's like looking down from an airplane!
We went to Medjugorge where the Virgin Mary is appearing...on the night of the apparition I looked up into the sky and saw two shooting stars...it is a wonderful peaceful place...
I havent had any sort of vacation since 1996 and that kinda sucks. Breaks have been far n few and that too only to catch some breath and get ready for another major struggle again. Am seriously thinking of weighing all the options...But I DO NEED a vacation !
Well...I actually did go for a reunion (college friends) in 2006 but that was too short and hectic. I had to plan n make all the arrangements, control expenses, drove vehicle round the clock....and the outcome - was down with fever for a week.
My best vacation was when I went to Seattle last November to visit my cousin. I had a really great time there. The people there were very nice especially the Seahawk fans.
Another great vacation took place during the summer of last year. I went to Louisiana for a family reunion.
My best vacation was the first time I went to New Orleans in 2001. My boyfriend and I had the most fantastic time. It was romantic! Just the two of us eating at restaurants with world renown chefs, scouting out old cemetaries, and looking at beautiful architecture. We went again in the spring of 2005 and then I went back myself just last October. The last trip was very sobering. It was like a war had been fought. The once busy streets that held businesses was under a complete construction. Every other building was being rebuild, or just abandoned with boarded windows. It had been over a year since the hurricane and the rebuilding was still taking place. But there are so many people not returning. It was very sad.
I still pray for the city and all that were affected! God Bless!
best/most memorable? golly... had to have been years ago when nearly my entire family went camping together in northern michigan. I was something like 11 or 12 years old. My older sister was there with us, thats part of what made it so special to me. She lived with my Mom and I lived with my Dad so for about 10 years, we got to see each other only a handful of times... very difficult. At anyrate, the siblings and I had fun... biking, canoeing, fishing, hiking, swimming and playing in waterfalls, scaring each other in the woods, telling scary stories by campfire. It's not one of those amazing and exciting destinations for a vacation, but the company is what made this trip as precious as it is to me. That and i love being in the great outdoors.
