Uber drivers can be more anti-social than Scorpios ever will be

Is it not their job to take you where you want to go?
Yes it is. Except it gets awkward when I give a nice friendly hello and just get 15 minutes of silence. Has happened multiple times. Tonight a phone call broke the ice between the gentlemen that dropped me off, he turned the radio down when I took a call and I thanked him for that after I hung up then we had a nice little conversation.

Sometimes they have a bad day, I get it, but an entirely silent cab ride makes me feel insignificant, like they are suffering my presence and managing to profit off of it.

While I agree that *technically* they have no

obligation to carry on a convo with the

passenger, I believe the utter lack of interaction

between people ESP in business transactions

(no matter how small) is tragic.

Nobody gives a fck about the smallest courtesy

anymore and I don't like it, either, OP.

I would not chat up someone who:

1) Makes it clear they are not going to engage in a convo

2) Is focused on a skill that involves taking care of my life. Loss of focus would be detrimental to me and them both.

I mean what's next..let's chat up surgeons while we are on the operating table or bust in pilot's cabins during flight. I mean it's a service why are they not talking to you. You are OWED.

People out of hand with their entitlement.

Although I agree with this...I vividly remember our uber rides. 😄

I could have sworn you had a fleet of friends in bucharest to drive us around because you talked to everyone like they were family.

I'm like..."did you know them??!!!"

LMAO, you and @Ram416. Fine, I admit it. I DO know everyone in Bucharest.

But I can shut up too. I know this is hard to fathom but I can. I just go with the vibe and I'm lucky most people here will engage you in conversation before you do them. But when it doesn't happen I just sit there and daydream all Neptune in the first like.

Well...I come from a country where nobody smiles at one another unless they want something from you (e.g. salesmen, people selling flag day stickers etc etc)...speaking to a random stranger in a polite manner, same thing.

If I tried to strike up a conversation with someone at the bus stop about the Wonder Woman movie, they'd 100% guaranteed slowly edge away from me and/or find a reason to not continue the conversation with me.

So when I saw you talking to random people like they were your neighbour for the last 20 years, it was kind of a culture shock for me.

OP you are the problem in this case. Why are you so fuking needy.

So sad
Just because you have no standards or expectations of a service that you pay for out of pocket doesn't reflect on me, that's all you buttercup.
Yes i have expectations of them to do their job not entertain me. That's not their job. Get a life

Failing to greet a paying customer is horrible. Your exaggerations of that doesn't have any bearing on anything. Go back to being useless.

I never rode in an uber before, is that fucking weird? Lol

I mean I drive my own car?
Me either. Obviously, we're missing out on something.

You've really not. I picked Uber out of necessity. First I needed to pick up a towed vehicle by my self and now I need it because I haven't had time to buy a new car. So for about 3 months I've been Uber-ing. If you live outside of the heavily regulated taxi/car service areas basically car service is double/triple what Uber is with 3-4x the wait time.

Most times they show up within 10 minutes. Other car service experiences for me have been typically 30 minutes to an hour.

Dudes just don't know how to talk half the time. Even some ladies just aren't that social. I don't get it, I bring my social skills to the ride, so should they.
When they sign up is to be a driver. not a couselor. You must pay more for that. if you need someone to talk to there are other places. They see people all day, drive long hours, the last thing they want is to be socializing with everyone.

I did uber for a while and I liked it mostly bc of the socializing haha it was fun meeting people from all walks of life! 🙂 The money was okay ...

lol at the dramatic comparisons-

If I could talk to the surgeon under general

anesthesia, the convo would not be pleasant

for either of us.
