I know I should be planning, and be ambitious but I can't seem to get divorced. I get headaches from boredom.

LOL.... SPELLING ERROR. NOT DIVORCED JUST GET UP AND DO SOMETHING. I'VE NEVER BEEN MARRIED. LMAO...... The problem, two years ago I lost my job and felt defeated. Started looking for a new job but than after a while decided that I should take some time off. That worked out for 2 summers but now I know I have to get back to work but it seems like a daughting task to get back into that frame of mind.

Basically i'm emotionally scared because I came from a corporate environment where I put in hard work and late hours; I was promoted a few times but towards the end management changed and it was HORRIBLE. I FEEL BROKEN.

An idle mind is the devil's playground.

I wake up and do the same routine everyday...not by choice but by habit.

You too! Lord I wanna leave all my worldly possessions behind and run off. But the thought of roughing it with no money, snaps me back to reality. Sigh. Gotta do something different this year though.

That's exactly how I feel. I'm not particularly materialistic (clothes, shoes, handbags) but I do like small luxuries (good food, good time, and i'm a product junkie), and I like to be financially independent and have a good place to live.

But I spend so much time at home that I need outside stimulation and I know that in about 6 months time I will need to work and I will have no other choice. I don't like having my time dictated by an outside party in exchange for a check.

So make a change... Take two steps left, instead of right. Find a Hobby, if you want some real fun, take an EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operations Course) that will make you feel truly alive and get that heart pounding with excitement. Civilians or Non Sworn can get in for about $ 300 here (Alameda County Sheriff's Academy) for a single day 8 hours training.

Heavy emphasis is placed on skid recovery, loss of control recovery, control during a blowout, and operating on less than ideal surfaces. Training includes hands on experience with the Skid Pan, Hazard Avoidance Simulator, Threshold/ABS Braking Simulator, and other various skill and precision oriented activities. Besides learning defensive driving techniques, you have a lot of fun, too. 😉

Below is a civilian EVOC example.

@busyeyes88 - I totally agree with the inertia thing... when it sets it, it sets in. After about a year and a half in, I had ZERO drive. Inertia is such a dangerous thing for anyone; life won't let be inactive without suffering major consequences on the backend.

I hate the corporate world but I have no choice at the moment because that is where I will be able to earn money. but you're right I do need a project aka "something PRODUCTIVE to do"

Sorry I didn't respond a little earlier, connection was down.

@Ands - awww...it's good to see you back; im pretty sure you were gone for a while. it's really cold where I live so you guys are the only people I interact with at the moment. lol... I guess I should get up and return calls and texts from my friend; everyone else that I've met in person have been markers.

@AnomalousBull - That EVOC training is scary even if it's in a parking lot; my blood pressure can't handle that. you're right about doing something different everyday. What @Redbull suggested is probably the best way to go about it; change of location forces change.

@ShadowAbsorber - don't waste and energy doing something you don't care about; that's what messed up my motivation in the first place. medical field... here I come.

@Redbull - you're right about creating more positive than negative. I will admit that negative happens in life, I become obsessively focused on the negative and create more negative. That's one of the main things I want to change about myself going forward. Create so much positive that it trumps the negative to the point that it no longer exists.

@RedBull - did you choose to go to school for something completely different or similar from the industry/job you were laid off from?

Was it hard for you to explain why you were out of the workforce for so long to interviewers? How do I explain to a potential employer why I was out of the workforce for more than a year without a reason such as kids or school?
