I think he wants to take things to the next level with you, or at least is open to doing that, what ever that next level is. A guy who just wants sex doesn't give a shit about how your day is going let alone wanting to text you that. I think if he didn't want things to progress he would've ghosted or until the next time he wanted sex down the road.
