While I’m feeling the soap opera wave for a few weeks again, before I get burnt out until September, I want to dive into more soaps.

Also want to dive into British soap operas, starting with EastEnders.

Episode 1 of EastEnders: The whereabouts of a missing elderly resident of Albert Square is revealed. Arthur and Pauline have a secret that they won't be able to keep for long. There is trouble in the Queen Victoria pub.

Oh dear

Dont worry, i'll get to your neighborhood Emmerdale eventually!

Lol, I'm closer to Eastenders than the country bumpkins.

I've never seen the early Eastender episodes, they have a certain charm to them.

If you want Eastenders at it's peak, watch it from 1998 - 2002.

yeah my personal fave that ive seen is 2000-2003. never got to see much 98 or 99

Dirty Den😀

EE is so depressing lol .... are you going to do a thread on Corrie? 👍. I love the Northern humour.

Yeah i probably will try to do it as well when I find a good starting point. I'm not really an expert on 80s Corrie

We used to get some but really not a lot. Although now we get a lot thanks to streaming services. We used to get EastEnders here in the 2000s. But I dont recall ever getting any other of the british soaps on tv back then. I was able to watch episodes of corrie from the 90s and 2000s on youtube tho. Then I also got watch Hollyoaks which became my fave of the bunch at that time. Now both Corrie and Hollyoaks are on Hulu here for the new episodes

The best of Eastenders, for me, was Phil vs Grant

Thats before my time but hopefully findable during this process

The climax of it was 98ish-2000 no?

I can't remember well (I'm no big Enders fan) but I grew up on that run they had together. You never knew if they would team up to kill other people, or kill each other.

I think it ended before 2000 cuz I dont remember Grant on the show in 2000. Steve Owen was more of the person that was a thorn in Phil''s side by then.

Ah yeah, I did enjoy Steve going at it with Phil and others. He had a lot of sides to him, without really needing to say anything in a scene. Just a look from him was enough to know he's up to ten different things at once.

Yeah Steve was the reason I kept watching the show at first really. I thought he was a pretty interesting character for sure
