Any other Virgo Volunteers out there?
I think lots of Virgo's enjoy the wild nature! I sure do. I am more of a water person though...I love the ocean. I could live in a boat at sea! I'd love to do more volunteering with water animals!

Thats because I don't think of Volunteering as a service. I think everyone should want to volunteer and help other people. When I see the word service, it doesn't strike me as helping people. I am in the "service" industry, and I hate it because when most people see "service" it translates to mean "servant". which I am not. I'm glad to help you, but I will not serve you.
Guess I should have said it that way from the beginning, but like I mentioned in my previous post, I said I don't always articulate what I mean very well. So, don't bring this thread down because you choose to read into everything I say in a bad way. I'm also not going to tell you a million times that what you took out of what I said was not what I meant.

I definitely wouldn't want anyone to have to serve me. I would feel really bad about it. I'm not dictator. No one is "beneath" me. We're all equal, and sometimes we want/need to help each other. Which I have absolutely no problem doing. And yes, because of this distinction I do feel the Virgo name is misunderstood. We will help people willingly until the day we die, but ask us to get on our knees and serve you? forget it.

Actually I totally understand where you are coming from. It boils down to semantics..
"to serve" can be interpreted in many ways, not necessarily as what you meant as "servant" or being "beneath" another...
Actually ALL the virgos I know.. even those at the cusp.. ESPECIALLY the Sept 22 (last day of virgo).. they love to serve.. in any way.. duty, details, jobs.. but they just don't see it as "beneath" another.. once they do, of course they stop doing it.
And I agree "help" does sound alot better.. But words can be used for so many purposes. Even "help" can be deceptive... I think it's the intent that counts in this case! And volunteering is a great way to channel the Virgo need for service!
Yeah, I'm a Virgo/Libra cusp (September 19), and both Virgo and Libra are known for interest in humanitarian type work. I value very much these qualities in myself. I have no ulterior motives in my desire to help people through volunteering or humanitarian efforts. I'm a very genuine person. Both types of people exist in this world that I mentioned though, sadly, the ones who use you to serve themselves knowingly...and the ones who appreciate your willingness to help them. even if they don't know until afterwards that they were in need of help.
Like these kids we're teaching. I definitely had a few that were like "Why are we working in the garden?" and "Is this what they always do in these programs".
I don't mind those questions because even though at the time they seem almost ungrateful...Some day they will see how they have helped the planet. They won't feel so disconnected from the environment once they realize how connected we all truly are too the Earth. It makes me hopeful for our Planet.

^ Actually I think most people when they "help", they get something back. There is a debate on this, it's an intrinsic satisfaction. It's nice you are so idealistic, though 🙂
If you're getting something back thats rewarding for you as well as the world and other people. It's not so bad. Everyone wins!
I'm not a Virgo but I do have a Virgo Merc and a Virgo Venus. I volunteer everywhere. I am on the volunteer committee at work. I just volunteered to help refugees from Iran register their children for school. They don't speak English and I don't speak Arabic so this is going to be interesting.
@Decan, I too found that responses are slow in coming. They don't have the funding or resources to devote to full time office staff. The people who call you back are usually volunteers as welL.

If you guys are looking into habitat for humanity, you should really just try your local Aquariums/Museums especially if you live in a bigger city. A lot of those places do special programs that are similar. I'm going to volunteer at the Zoo next I think. Probably also at a soup kitchen too during the winter here in Chicago.

I was a tutor for kids here in Shreveport, LA. I loved it, I considered it help because I got A LOT from it. Most of these kids have no one to turn too, no one to look up too and the fact i can help lead them to continue education and not give up is worth more than anything considering a large amount of their parents didn't graduate high school and some can't even read.

Do you not realize that I was SUPER emotional when I posted that shit? You think I feel that way all the time? Well, I DON'T, but at the time I was feeling taken advantage of and hated everything and everyone. It was a long time coming, just a culmination of a lot of things.
