in class today we were talking about how family life and values have changed in recent decades. specifically how children are now raised by computers, video games, tv, etc. i feel like after adolescence, introverts come into adulthood the way young people did years ago. extroverts seem to be the modern type with flashy looks and technology and a more superficial view of the world. the way capitalism is unfolding seems to have more of an effect on extroverts and that persona over the mental introverts. of course there is some crossovers but does anyone else see a pattern?

I am an introvert by nature, but boy do I have the capacity to be an extrovert under the right circumstance.

Alcohol or having a good friend to back me up, causes me to be utterly confident. I feel invincible.

If I don't know the people, I try to not risk them getting the wrong impression. I like to joke a lot and cover a wide spectrum of topics. So depending on the day I could fit multiple stereotypes.

I think it's less capitalism and more neo-paganistic values on the whole that are driving people down bad roads.

I agree with you totally. Although capitalism is definitely involved, it cannot be the only factor, as America wasn't like this in the '40s and '50s, when capitalism reigned supreme (at least here). The all-out liberal assault on Christian values (yes, I'm a conservative)has really taken a toll on our culture. Morality and ethics are hard to come by in America today. It's really shameful, if you ask me.

Ah, you are very well learned my brother.

Capitalism does play its role. The greed of the rich pushing further the margins of the poor and even taking their money too through the sale of self destructive things such as drugs and alcohol.

Greed breeds Poverty, Poverty breeds Ignorance, Ignorance breeds Violence, Violence breeds Pain, Pain breeds Desperation, Desperation breeds Quick Fixes, Quick Fixes breed Self Destruction.

People have forgotten what hard work is, what it is worth. Everything is now now now. No more working your tail off and learning to deal with all the things you go through psychologically and physically.

No, there are painkillers, flu vaccines, alcohol, cocaine, heroin to deal with your problems.
These things don't teach you the worth of human dignity, morals or ethics.

besides, christians ripped everything off from the pagans anyway and trademarked that shit like disney.

i could start a whole barrage of religious banter but it all turns into an ugliness and perpetuates a hatred that i don't condone. i am all about the loving be u conservative, liberal, christian, pagan, or otherwise. btw, i am agnostic. i don't know if there is a god. i don't pretend to know anything like that. it is what it is. i also refuse to live in a hellish existence now worrying about some afterlife that may not exist. what i do know is that i am here right now and i want to live it up while i'm here. just because there is hate and evils to be found on this earth does not mean there isn't also love and good. why can't we accept that life has its ups and downs, pros and cons? yes. terrible things can happen to good ppl. terrible things also happen to bad ppl. i just don't get it i guess. i think we're missing the point entirely.

I am assuming that you are using the term neo-pagan in regards to the negative association Christianity and Christians have attributed to the term 'pagan'.

Yes, I am. Pagans are people who do not believe in the one true God.

This quote is an example of neo paganistic values.

I live my life how I want, I do what I want and as long as it doesn't hurt anybody there is nothing wrong with it, I love the universe and everyone as a whole, et cetera, et cetera.

The funny thing is how so many of these "agnostics" and "aethiests" all started out in and had a good upbringing involving religion. Yet they give it no credit to their mental and intellectual growth.

Well put, I agree with this all the way..

And that is the problem with society today...

As a Virgo, I would imagine you understand the principles of right and wrong.
There is a right way to play Baseball and a wrong way.
There is a right way to swim and a wrong way.
There is a right way to raise your children and a wrong way.
Sure there are inbetweens, but more or less, you're polarised to one side right or wrong.

So why would there be any different with living life?
Doing whatever you please as long as it doesn't hurt anyone, without question is not the right way.
Everything has consequences, everything has reactions and everything you do affects people's lives one way or another.

Cajun is right. I always thought that it was common knowledge that Virgos had high moral standards. There is a right and a wrong way to do things, and the only reason people claim to be "open-minded" is because they know what they are doing is wrong, so they try to come up with an excuse to justify it. Claiming that the other side is close minded is a good way to shut them up.

Hikoro, you have more or less echoed what I said on the first page, so I do not disagree with what you wrote per say. VirgoLeoGirl quoted my text and agreed with it, so I don't see how I could misinterpret what she wrote.

For you, there are rules, a right and a wrong, etc.
On the other hand, I sense that your girlfriend lives more in the gray area. It depends.....live and let live....

Those would be quoting her words exactly.
I hate grey, black and white is much better, for me.
