...then again...if you were to read the new list of 'Myths of the Book of Revelation', youd find this:

2. The numerals 666 stand for the devil

The 1976 horror film —The Omen?? scared a lot of folks. It may have scared some theologians, too, who began encountering people whose view of Revelation comes from a Hollywood movie.

—The Omen?? depicted the birth and rise of the —anti-Christ,?? the cunning son of Satan who would be known by —the mark of the beast,?? 666, on his body.

Here's the passage from Revelation that —The Omen?? alluded to: —This calls for wisdom: let anyone with understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a person. Its number is six hundred sixty-six.??
Good movies, though, don't always make good theology. Most people think 666 stands for an anti-Christ-like figure that will deceive humanity and trigger a final battle between good and evil. Some people think he's already here.

Pagels, however, says the writer of Revelation didn't really intend 666 as the devil??s digits. He was describing another incarnation of evil: The Roman emperor, Nero.

The arrogant and demented Nero was particularly despised by the earliest followers of Jesus, including the writer of Revelation. Nero was said to have burned followers of Jesus alive to illuminate his garden.

But the author of Revelation couldn't safely name Nero, so he used the Jewish numerology system to spell out Nero??s imperial name, Pagels says.

Pagels says that John may have had in mind other meanings for the mark of the beast: the imperial stamp Romans used on official documents, tattoos authorizing people to engage in Roman business, or the images of Roman emperors on stamps and coins.

Since Revelation??s author writes in —the language of dreams and nightmares,?? Pagels says it's easy for outsiders to misconstrue the book??s original meaning.

Still, they take heart from Revelation??s larger message, she writes:

—?_Countless people for thousands of years have been able to see their own conflicts, fears, and hopes reflected in his prophecies. And because he speaks from his convictions about divine justice, many readers have found reassurance in his conviction that there is meaning in history — even when he does not say exactly what that meaning is — and that there is hope.??

"Latinos may be the largest racial/ethnic group in America, but they still fly under the radar for so many others in this country. Latinos are ignored, forgotten, marginalized, and discounted in life and in death.

Part of this has to do with the diversity of Latinos. We come in many different colors and national flavors. Part of this has to do with a lack of attention or appreciation for the kind of cultural style and contribution that Latinos have and can make to American life.

African Americans have a cultural role in this country that Latinos do not.
African Americans are often seen as villains, primitives, raw, lazy, and dumb. But they are also seen often as strong, musical, athletic, creative, stylish, and funny. In short, African Americans may often be vilified but they are also often imitated by white Americans. Latinos mostly face neither of these extremes. They are mostly ignored."

....must change this. Someday.
For we can contribute more than cleaning toilets, landscaping and picking fruit for Dole.
But part of it has to start within ourselves, our own perceptions.

"Last year, Juarez recorded 1,933 violent deaths, according to the Chihuahua state attorney's office. That figure is considered exorbitant, especially when compared with the 209 homicides in New York City last year, even though that U.S. city's population is six times greater than Juarez's.

Even so, that figure represented a 38% decline in violent deaths from the year before, when the city counted 3,117 killings. The number of violent deaths was 2,643 in 2009 and 1,607 in 2008. A mere 300 killings were reported in 2007.

Juarez also is known for its high "femicide" rate, the unsolved murders of hundreds of girls and women."

How to help end slavery in Mauritania
By John D. Sutter, CNN

(CNN) - After reading CNN??s special report on Mauritania, —Slavery??s Last Stronghold,?? it may seem like little can be done to end slavery in this West African country, where an estimated 10% to 20% of people are enslaved.

That's far from true, however. You can be part of the solution. Here's how:

Donate to a worthy cause

Anti-Slavery International has set up a special donations page for a training center for escaped slaves in Mauritania??s capital, which is run by SOS Slaves. The school, which is featured in the CNN project, teaches about 30 women to sew, cook, braid hair and dye fabric. The hope is that these escaped slaves and their children one day will open their own businesses.
The United Nations also runs slavery-related programs in Mauritania, including a shelter for people who recently have escaped from slavery. Additionally, the UN lobbies the Mauritanian government to enforce a law that criminalized slavery and to address slavery cases. See the UN Trust Fund site for more details. Donations can be earmarked for Mauritania.

You can also send general donations to SOS Slaves, which has been fighting against slavery in Mauritania since 1995, through Anti-Slavery International??s website. That group, in collaboration with international partners, is working to hire attorneys who can represent slaves in court. They also help people escape from slavery, including Moulkheir Mint Yarba, who we featured. E-mail supporter@antislavery.org if you have questions about sending donations for SOS Slaves in particular.

Anti-Slavery International also runs programs in Mauritania that aim to push for the law against slavery to be enforced. The London-based group hires attorneys to represent slaves in court; lobbies the government; runs micro-credit programs for women who are former slaves; and supports the work of non-governmental organizations on the ground.

Another anti-slavery group in Nouakchott, IRA Mauritania, runs a safe house for escaped slaves and pressures the government to address slavery directly. Its leaders say they have been imprisoned and tortured for speaking out. You can contact the group via a representative in Europe to inquire about how to help. That e-mail address is: merzough@yahoo.de.
-----------

Since 1995...this fight has been going down.
Where is the church and its voice? Where are the 1% ?

Dear Diary: After a pleasant stroll through the park plucking buttercups and humming Disney tunes perfectly in tune..I made a discovery. I didn't give a shit. Not a peanut or corn kernel. Not one little puff of methane was exhaled from my bottom, not even that much. Not...a...shit. I smiled at this, collected my basket of floral delights and skipped down the path. The petals of the overblown silk fascinator in my hair rustling gently. Dirndl intact.

Life is so sweet. You just want to bite into it hard like an apple. Crunch down into that slightly yielding skin and get down into the flesh of it. Crisp and tart, those delicious juices bursting in your mouth.

This just in *papers rustling*....

Writer, Music or Art Critic
Anyone born under the sign of Virgo is said by astrologers to possess wisdom beyond their years and an instinctive understanding of human nature. Such deep thinkers are capable of producing thought provoking and insightful writing and some of the most critically acclaimed authors have been Virgos. Leo Tolstoy, Mary Shelley, D.H. Lawrence, H.G. Wells and Stephen King all share this star sign. Virgos thrive on attention to detail, form and color and they appreciate craftsmanship in all its many forms and this, combined with their analytical ability, makes anyone born under this star sign ideally suited to a career as a critic, particularly in the areas of drama, art and music.

Shelley, Lawrence, Tolstoy and King!!!

DAMN!! Thats some serious list!! I need to trust my talents, even If i never stepped foot in a university (YET!!).

Um, yeah, so can other Sun (star) signs. Fair dinkum mate, you could subsitute "Virgo" for any other sign and the comment would ring true.

Anyone?..for fuck sake, who ever wrote this needs some critique
lolz

Don't believe the hype man, just do your thing with passion & conviction and a good attitude.
I'm a little bemused as to why you would fall for those 'scribblings'
🙂
Me thinks all you're searching for here, is a little encouragement / appreciation, to give you a boost.

So.... You're fuckin' awesome, the world is your oyster! Go for it!

😉

So i should stop reading astrology "scribblings" cause they can be applied to everyone?
I guess with your theory, there should just be ONE astrological sign for everyone.
EVERYONE can write!
EVERYONE can act
EVERYONE can dance
EVERYONE speaks eloquently
etc...

...and of course im looking to encourage myself.
Why else would i even read about astrology?
Maybe, unlike you, I didnt grow up in a place of encouragement.

But then again, i dont expect 'other' sun signs to say...
"Fuck yeah, what I read about your Sun sign is awesome. I wish I was one of you."

And no the world isnt an oyster, it's a god damn hell-hole.

It's far from perfect, and humans do some pretty fucked up shit sometimes, but it's not all bad. The Sun does shine and there are beautiful people on this planet, but you already know this, you're just going through a funked up phase.
Stay strong brother, push through it, everything happens for a reason.

So you want sex without commitment,
When really that's all I ask of you
To give me all of your attention
But thats too hard for you to do.

All of a sudden I'm not worth the effort
You wanna play platonic, and play at ignore
You want me to let you hit it, well...
Don't get hit on your way out when you close the door.

So you want instant gratification,
To use me like some kind of three dollar whore,
Well you can keep wishing baby
Cus I love you, I do, but I love myself even more.

Then go correct the Wikipedia page. Cause this is what it reads........

LEO TOLSTOY
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy (Russian: –?–?–_ –?–?–?–_–?–—–?–_–— –?–_–—?–_??–_, pronounced [l?_ev n?_??k—?la??v?_??t?? t??l??stoj] ( listen); known in the West as Leo Tolstoy) (September 9, 1828 — November 20, 1910)---[Old style date August 28, 1828 — November 7, 1910].
was a Russian writer who primarily wrote novels and short stories. Later in life, he also wrote plays and essays. His two most famous works, the novels War and Peace and Anna Karenina, are acknowledged as two of the greatest novels of all time and a pinnacle of realist fiction. Many consider Tolstoy to have been one of the world's greatest novelists. Tolstoy is equally known for his complicated and paradoxical persona and for his extreme moralistic and ascetic views, which he adopted after a moral crisis and spiritual awakening in the 1870s, after which he also became noted as a moral thinker and social reformer.

lol Sorry, I got confused there was some RANDOM astrology site that said Tolstoy was a Scorpio or something.....Or I was confusing him with another famous writer.....

Anyways, nothing wrong with being little skeptical on astrology, wgamador. Here`s the BULLSHIT, that I found.

Its cool.

Funny thing is John Keats who is my favorite writer and poet, he is a Scorpio. Thats my boy right there.
But my all time favorite writer is Dante Alghieri who is a GEMINI!!

I have problems with my Neptune cause its in the 12th House but some sites/astrologers say its placement is in the
1st House.
So when I go read about it, i have to double the reading.
I think some asrtologers practice what I like to call, "loose astrology".

Neptune in the First House

You might express yourself artistically, and come across as gentle, sensitive, and dreamy, especially if Neptune is close to the Ascendant (within 10 degrees). You are extremely sensitive to your environment. Others tend to see whatever they want to see in you, and you thus can come across very differently to different people. You might tend to encourage this, even without knowing. Your appearance and mannerisms tend to be chameleon-like. You are a peace-loving person. While you don't come on strong, you can be subtly alluring and intriguing. Others can be drawn to you and feel that you understand them. You can be moody and your first reaction to problems might be to escape or to feel sorry for yourself, or helpless. You may not feel a strong sense of identity and struggle with your own impressionability. Like a sponge, you absorb the moods of others. Your imagination is powerful. You have an easygoing manner - a "what will be, will be" approach to the world.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Neptune in the Twelfth House

You possess exceptional intuition and you are able to draw upon tremendous inner strength and faith when in a pinch, which might surprise others because of your easygoing and possibly even timid manner. You may be exceptionally sensitive but not always able to express your compassion and concern in direct ways, which can give rise to fe

I think your Neptune is in the end of your First House, that`s why some say it`s in 1st while others say it`s in 12th. I have that problem with my Uranus, too. My Uranus is located in the end of my 11th house, that`s why some astro sites say it`s in 12th.

So do you prefer your uranus in the 11th or 12th house?
Which one do you prefer? or do you take the best of both, like i do.

I can feel the familiar path of my tears
by now a million must have fallen.
Sometimes I still feel you with me
but its just my heart catching up to a love--
one that ended, that walked away
leaving me barren, like flowers without pollen.
Like a mixed root, buried deep was the love I felt for you.
Every day I dig deeper than the next
Looking for a reason, a purpose for why
I still walk---through this painful garden.

*man, had to get that cheese out. I was walking around like a hot-pocket.

Today should have been declared 'stomp a co-worker' day. I really loathe having to be the heavy at work..but holy SHIT whatcha gonna do with some of these lazy heifahs? Jumping balls of dung, I've had an absolute snoot full of carrying my work load plus all the hey ho's, wanna get out of here at this time so I'll just do the soft sand shuffle on out the door. Really madam, you have children to see. So do I. I want to go do something tonight. So do I. In other words ye shiftless asses, grab your lady bits with both hands and shake that ASS so we can ALL get out at a decent hour.
