Scorpio woman confused about Virgo male. Help...

Dear people,

How I love this forum! It has helped me so much in figuring out the virgo I am in love with.

Here is my question:

The Virgo ( man) asked me if I loved him. We do not know each other that long, so we both agreed I could not really say that. But I told him I have deep feelings for him.
Then later I wrote him a letter saying that I do love the Virgoman that I know up til now.

Then he wrote me back saying that it would be hard for me to find a guy worthy of me ( but good luck with that).

It really hurts. Why did he ask if I loved him? And when I say I do love the man that I know, I get this!

The push pull things is hard and it has hurt me ( I am Scorpio female).

Can it be a that a self-confident looking man might be not that self-confident and feel he is not good enough?
Does he think I am not good enough? ( after this thing above, he has told me he has feelings for me..but I want to understand).

Can it be that this Virgo male might be deep inside not that secure? Testing me?
He seems very self-confident, but is always distant and withdraws. I have to contact him all the time, but he does have feelings for me...
Are Virgo male usually honest and sincere? He is always questioning me, but rarely speaks about himself.

What should a Scorpio female think when a Virgoman gives all indication of serious interest, writes her romantic and sweet emails and then always keeps a distance?
Also, he holds back for physical intimacy in the fear it might ruin things....

He is so wonderful...I wish I could understand him.
Emotionally I have decided not to hope/wait for him ( yearn is a better word!)...
I will be his loving friend for now.
