Some opinions Por Favor (please)

Okay to make an absolutely long story short--

Our Coach bus from Boston was supposed to arrive at 12:00 pm. It did not. Instead we were informed that it will be arriving at 5:00pm to take us back to Albany, New York.

From Albany I would have to take anopther coach bus to another part of new york (home). I already booked my ticket, in which the bus from albany to (home) was to arrive and leave at 5:00 pm.

The problem is that the bus from Boston is leaving at 5 (b/c some asshole screwed up the schedule), and take 4 hours to get to Albany. So I will not be able to make my bus in time.

Okay now we are done with the technical stuff, now onto the story....

So I realize that this situation is a problem. So I call my friend as soon as I am notified (at 12:00pm) and ask him if he wouldnt mind picking me up from albany at like around 8-9ish.

I told him I would give him money for gas. He agrees. So he does not have to leave (home) until like 5/6 ish to get to albany at 8/9ish.

So throughout the ride to Albany, we text each other to make sure he is going the right way, blah, blah , blah

When I arrive at Albany, he is not answering his phone, it's going straight to voicemail, blah blah blah

turns out he has been arrested for speeding!!!! and his "bail" is 500 dollars


when he calls me and tells me this it is 11;30 pm and i Already purchased a ticket back to (home) and am already on the bus going home

So I call his brother and tell him the details about his arrest. And his brother said okay, I will try to go get him tonight.

Basically.

I feel horrible.
I was the one who asked him to come to Albany to pick me up. Now he is sitting in some random jail.

So what should I do—

I was going to give hime like $ 250 (half of the 500) because I feel like it was my fault he was arrested...

Awwww, that's so sad and sweet.

You can't really apologize for *him* speeding - that part isn't your fault or responsibility. If you called him at 12pm and he didn't have to leave until 5/6ish to get to you, then it's on him for possibly leaving late and speeding.

However, it would be extra nice of you to check on him when he gets out and offer to help with the costs.

Don't beat yourself up. I have a major guilt complex and I'd be doing the same thing, but since I can look at it objectively I can tell you - It's not your fault.

ok getting a speeding ticket is one thing and getting arrested for speeding is another lol bothnot your fault, its his responsibilty to drive within the law no matter who asked him to be picke up, if he left too late its his own damn fault,
mayeb there was little more to his story? maybe suspended license, or warrants or something liek that, agian not your fault

Okay so I talked to him and he told me that it's not my fault he got arrested (wich I already knew). But I insisted that I still give him some money...

just my luck that all the cancers i have come across in real life are extreley f*cked people.they literally ask for me to shoot at them.their behaviour is irritating and immature,and they keep having unecessary emotional fits.
the girls are bearable,but the guys make me want to jump the trigger.

i never driven that fast my self but i was taken for a ride at 185mph against my will on a busy interstate, aghhh that is not fun by any means let me tell you that ...speeds like that are dangerous to everyone around, one mistake and many people die..so if he ever brings it up how he sacrifice him self for you just make a fool out of him for being this stupid

I do not know what was wrong with that kid. He said that there was no one on the road, so he just wanted to have some fun.
