So last week I began to train my works 5th potential employee (2 couldnt do the job, 1 stayed, 1 disappeared after a week). The first day it was all about her filling out paperwork, meeting everyone etc....the second day I began training her...she is an old woman, something is off about her but I'm as nice as can be to her....basically that day was all about her listening and watching me while I explained somethings in between. On to the 3rd day....I go into more details etc....the end of the day she thanked me for my patience with her while she tried to make sense of everything. During this time she kept asking me questions that really didnt pertain to what we were doing...like the roll of our office manager and some other things...I answered them. Then she would ask another employee the same thing....weird but ok, maybe she forgot?! She was very worried about the job and if she could do it...I tried to assured her that once she gets somethings down and in couple weeks, she will wonder why she was ever nervous etc. Its very repetitive job. She took little notes...again I found it weird but some people are just like that.

On to Thurs....my admin was late (she had been sick all week) I had to jump in and do some things for her that needed to be done in the mornings. I do them....then it times to start training...I get my first call of the day from a client...nothing of the ordinary happened on the call...when I hung up I told him to have a good day and he said the same to me....all the sudden this lady jumps up, goes and grabs her purse (I thought she had to use the rest room or something) then turns around starts yelling at me...telling me I am the most ignorant, negative person she has ever met in her life and she stormed out (I was starring at her the whole time...said excuse me and then the rest of the time I just had this wtf just happened look on my face) my other co worker was on the phone...so he didnt hear what all went down...just that she was screaming at the top of her lungs so much that he had to have the client repeat themselves. Fast forward....I look in the parking lot and her car is still here....so I try to find her because now I'm pissed. She was in my office managers office for like 2 hrs after this her outburst.

I call my admin and tell her what happened??_she like Im on my way. She gets there and there is some shit going down??_.so Im like great Im gonna get fired or in trouble and I did nothing wrong. So needless to say??_I worried the whole rest of the day. No one came and asked my side of the story either. Friday comes and nothing still but I know things are being discussed behind the scenes. Then I get the call from my office manager to come to her office??_.great! Mind you ??_the office manager has nothing to do with my department at all. I step in and she immediately tells me not to worry??_she then tells me that this psychotic bitch tells them that I have an attitude problem and I made some racist remarks etc??_.Im pissed because none of this happened??_..but she told them I was ridiculously good at my job. She was just telling my admin how she liked everyone and that I was so patient with her (she told me this as well) etc. Apparently I wasn't her only complaint??_she said our whole firm environment is toxic and negative??_again everyone was really nice to her??_she is new FFS??_..plus this is her 4th day here. She then tells me that they have hired her to be our new admin and they are firing the current one. I told her so she basically came in her to take her job??_well no she came into quit??_no she came in to steal her job. Then she says well she approached things differently than anyone else has ever. (Every admin has tried to implement changes and they all failed and were fired??_she is going to do no differently) So the whole point of them calling me in there was to tell me this??_they wanted to make sure that I would be able to work with her because I am their best employee and they don't want to lose me blah blah blah. So basically they took her side??_.a complete stranger??_gave her a promotion then are going to stick her in the same room with their best employee that is so ignorant and negative?! I told the OM??_and so what happens when she tries to use this against me later??_Oh well??_since no one heard what happened??_its just going to be forgotten??_.suuuuuure it is??_..its def not by me. I even told my admin and co worker the day before??_that she is the type of person that will do whatever it takes??_dirty or not to climb over anyone to get to the top??_.proved that right. My OM then tells me to think about it over the weekend??_.and again that they really really really don't want to lose me.

Im pissed??_.Ive worked here for 6 years and they didn't even have enough respect for me to ask me my side??_.Ive never been in trouble, wrote up or yelled at. I take my job very serious and my character as well specially in the work place??_.if she would have said those things and walked out??_I wouldn't of cared??_but she tried to make me look bad at my job??_which is so disrespectful in my eyes. How do they expect me to respect someone who doesn't know how to present a conflict in a professional way??_someone who throws a tantrum and yells and quits their job? Lied about me and played dirty to take another??s job? If she behaved like that already??_.it will happen again. But now??_.my reservations are that when something happens??_she is going to try and take me down with her??_.I don't care what she told the OM??_.she will??_..plus she will be constantly watching me..waiting for me to screw up??_so she can try and fuck me over somehow. This bitch is supposed to start on Monday??_and Im at a loss on what to do? My other bosses tell me to just smile and be nice because like me??_they know she wont last??_if she was worried about doing the job I was training her for??_there is def no way she will be able to do the admin job??_..seriously!

Even though I just wrote a damn book??_.I'm still at a loss on words on wtf just happened. I hate drama??_looks like now my job is going to be full of it :/

Oh ....almost forgot....I was told that my OM mention me for the position after they interviewed this psycho. Why would they want a negative, ignorant person for a supervisory role?! Shit just doesnt make sense at all...maybe a different perspective would help. BTW....I wouldnt take the job even if they did offer it....look what they did to the last person...fired w/out anything!!

Wait so this cray cray has been there 4 days, freaks out, makes a scene, they fire someone else and give her their job? WTF. Al because she cried racism? Sorry if that last part is incorrect... but can your co worker get the client to confirm the yelling? as i'm sure they heard it over the phone...Can't the coworker speak up about the fact that they couldn't hear the call because cray cray was yelling?

Watch your back. not much advise but watch out and document everything this lady says/does. she seems that she is not all there and will take others with her. Hugs sorry you have cray cray to deal with. Sucks when there is drama at the workplace.

Thats exactly what I was afraid of :/ thanks I appreciate it! We went from an office where everyone gets along...minus the occasional butting of heads....to nothing but drama filled...this sucks!

If she truly is nuts and can't handle the job you trained her for, doubt she will last long anyways. But still document everything. I had to do it in my past and it thankfully was never needed but you never know....especially in a corporate environment.

I will do that...but I'm afraid that since they believed a complete stranger than their "best employee" that it wouldnt matter anyway...but I will still document it all..just in case.

@Lostinmymind11:

I'm sorry about this. This happened to me back in 2011. The lady was hired about 4 months before my start date, she supposed to be my assistant but on my first day she said that she doesn't like to have a female boss. I can tell she is a difficult person and also incompetent. I figure I can't proof difficulty but I can proof incompetent. So I start keeping a log on this individual. i.e. every time I give her an assignment, I would log in the date, her work result, etc. I kept documentations proof of communications, etc. I did this for 9 months. Then I wrote 2-page letter to the CFO, basically saying that here is the facts and my recommendations. Also, I give the CFO the deadline to do something about it, if by the deadline nothing were done, please consider this letter is my two weeks notice from the date of the deadline. A week after the CFO received such letter, we have a meeting with our lawyer, basically to fire the lady.

It is entirely up to you but in your shoes, I would look for other job if they don't show respect after you work there for 6 yrs. Trust me, there are better companies out there plus they will start showing respect once you give them your 2-week notice. You are better than what they perceive you to be.

Beside moving job means you give yourself a raise. Win-win.

Wtf..? Where did this lady come from? Was she transferred from another division or branch of the company? Did they headhunt her from a competitor? Did they find her on Craigslist? Is she related to someone in the company?

I needs more deets. 🙂

Regardless, that whole situation sounds bizarre.

Craigslist....which we told them was not the most professional place to find people...but they would never listen.

God that sounds so tedious....ugh! I mean they did show me some respect....like they didnt have to tell me all that...they could of just said "shes your boss now...deal with it" but still feels like a slap in the face after all this time and me working my ass off for them. My luck...kid you not...I would give them my two weeks...theyd say see ya lol

Girl, I read War and Peace. Nothing compares to that lol.

The situation is too bizarre for me to tackle and I think a lot goes beyond the scenes.

I will address this though: I remember several posts of yours through the years when you said it's like you're invisible in the company, they don't care etc.

Maybe this final event will be the straw that broke the Camel's back and you'll get out of there.

I was going to make a dirty joke about the title, but...

If it was me, I'd be looking. If they are going to bend like that, I wouldn't want to work there.

If you're dedicated to the company though...that's a different story.

you should of...I could use the laugh rabbit!! lol

I was dedicated but not so much anymore :/

That's tough. Something like this can kill your motivation. So you have to hope (like was mentioned by another) that this asshat doesn't last long and the status quo is restored. If you want to stay. I'm in a somewhat similar situation at work (idiot employee ruining it for everyone), and I've decided it's just time to go. "Management" knows its a problem but refuses to fix it...so fuck it.

And the joke?

How about..."Things I've never had to say to a woman except when watching Dances With Wolves"?

See this is another reason why I choose to be alone..I need a work from home job!!

Hahaha...that did make me laugh a little bit...thanks rabbit 🙂

LOL....I had to write that all up in word first....made it a lot easier but still it was a shit load to write!

I dont remember that...but its a good possibility that I did write that before....now I'm too much involved in it...which is a good and bad thing.

You're right though...this maybe the final straw and something better may be in the works...I hope so cause I really dont know how long I can deal with this shit.

This is definitely a Virgo issue, and I've witnessed it for decades with my own husband.

For a long time, he worked for others before we established our own company .... but, back then ....

He is so good at his job, that they couldn't afford to lose him. No matter how many times I bitched, preached, pleaded, reasoned (you name it) with him ... he wouldn't budge.

A person who is set at their job to the point of perfecting it .... isn't management material. A manager needs to be diverse, they need to be able to change.

My husband refused to believe that ... and so he spent his entire adult career (until now) ... stuck in the same fucking job, so a good job, being the best employee ... in the same place, same position.

going nowhere

to be the best at your job isn't what a company looks for when advancing.

I'm glad you feel better that you released all the pent up frustration ... but, until you realize what is happening to you, you will likely be experiencing this same shit over and again.

don't be the trainer, don't be the best if you want to be noticed for your abilities = be able to change gears in mid stream fluently

It sounds like that woman has balls, has drive and isn't afraid to be an enforcer ..... employers looks for people like that.

I know I do in our company.

I'm not going to promote a person who can't operate outside of their box.

I'm sorry she hurt your feelings ... but, if you want to move up the ladder and be recognized for your abilities, then you're going to have to be able to have some fight in you.

and I know you can do that ... I remember your story about you and your pitt bull and the guy you thought was up to no good

I'm not looking to move up here....I'm not management material, I def more behind the scenes person.

This is what they stated to me...they dont want to lose me because I do everything they basically want me to do and I do it the right way....Im their little bitch unfortunately...it has nothing to with actually being their "best employee" and that is my fault.

But P...you would hire someone who throws a tantrum, yells and walks out on a job as a supervisor? Because if thats the case....that doesnt look good on you and your company.

I think she's brilliant. She spent 3 days inquiring about the role of management and when the admin person didn't show up for work, she went to management and approached issues from an angle differently than any other.

btw - a supervisor doesn't show up late for work. You said that you do her morning stuff for her when she isn't there, which insinuates that she doesn't show up on time often enough for you to mention that.

I know it hurts your feelings, and I'm sorry for that ... but, you have to face the reality of it if you want to change things for yourself.

If you want to be a manager, then you have to stop thinking like an employee. You have a disgruntled employee attitude because you feel like you're not being recognized. Be a leader !!!!

show them ... don't sit there and drone on day after day at a dead-end job, and have the unrealistic expectation that that will get you somewhere.

And furthermore, it was only a matter of time before the admin person was replaced .... because a supervisor comes to work EVERY day ON TIME, regardless.

condensed version....she applied for a secretary position....she didnt like some shit, got up threw a tantrum, yelled and stormed out and quit. So she made a scene, lied etc and got promoted to be the new admin.

So I was saying...someone who behaves in that manner and seems to be unstable...you would hire as a supervisor?

Im not sure what her sign is....I'm sure I will find out soon though.

"btw - a supervisor doesn't show up late for work. You said that you do her morning stuff for her when she isn't there, which insinuates that she doesn't show up on time often enough for you to mention that. "

^ I totally agree with the above...and thats one of the things that used to bother me a while ago...she took advantage of her position and it was ultimately her demise...but you dont hire someone who behave in such a unprofessional way to take their place.

I would hire her to be the administrator only if her assertiveness coupled with her skills. However, I would most definitely promote her to a high position ..... it only seems to be wrong to you because you are emotionally involved.

From a impersonal standpoint (which is where I come from here), she appears to be sharp enough to pick up, not only the office practices, also what needs to change in three days.

I want to say something here, and I don't want you to get offended that I'm saying it ... you know I respect you a lot, but, also, you know I'm frank and only mean to give you an important message for your own personal perspective ..... just think about this from how this actually plays out ...

If she told things to the manager about you, and others, to mean the atmosphere of the office personnel, and The Office Manager believes her ... then that means The Office Manager most likely already believes something needs to change in the office. You said that people can't last in the position, in that everyone fails. Something is very wrong with the office.

The Office Manager is actually LOOKING for a person who can kick ass ..... obviously.

Think about this from the position of having the responsibility of running the office. By your testimony of having many years experience in this office - that the supervisors and admins can't make this office run properly.

That ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ means there is a cancer in there who is the problem and needs to be flushed out. A shy and reserved person who is afraid of confrontation, and afraid to shake things up to see what everyone is made of .... actually IS the solution.

Assertiveness and skills are great qualities to have ...specially in a supervisor role...that I can agree to BUT attitude is going to be a major player in the admin job here. We deal with a lot of clients...so they can get to be down right mean and ignorant (like most of the general public) If she can flip out over really nothing....its going to happen again...whether it is on a client or her subordinates...which is def not a good thing...really in any company.

This lady hasnt worked for 6 or 7 yrs...and I dont think she has ever been in a supervisor role before (dont quote me on that...she may have been in the 90s)....so no one knows her skill set and she wasnt even sure she could do the job I was training her for, the admin job is much more tedious...and when asked questions in the interview...our office manager answer them for her...which the OM has nothing to do with our dept...she doesnt even know how things are ran exactly...she is never over on our side of the building...she has somehow put her self in the middle. Her role here is payroll, getting supplies etc.

Since Ive been here...we had two admins and then the latest one who was just fired...but before me...they went thru them like crazy because they cant keep up with the tedious amount of things that must be done. Its a problem....but you never know about people until you get them in here and they start working...they can have an awesome resume and play a good game in a interview...but that means nothing imo.

Its funny that you say that...one of the supervisors is a cancer..but she is actually pretty confrontational and not shy....she was hesitate on getting rid of the admin because one thing that stuck out was that...she would never have to worry if she was out of the office...a trust thing...she knew things would be handled and there would be no drama...yeah it might not be the best reasoning but its still pretty high up there.

Im not offended in the least bit P....I appreciate your insight!

One thing that also stuck out.... apparently in the interview..she was asked how she would keep office morale up....this is a question the OM answered for her. The OM said "oh by like gift cards, pizza etc" when just not to long a go (a couple months)...they done away with all of that...they said it wasnt in the budget any longer. so...see something doesnt add up. Which honestly we dont need all of that...sure its nice but thats not the problem.

The biggest problem...we are way understaffed. We need at least one more person but thats not going to happen....so we are all taking on multiple jobs....and not talking here and there things...full on other jobs that are meant for other people.

And just like that...she is gone!!! 🙂

She went to her supervisor this morning...saying things like "im so overwhelmed....I cant do this job" I didnt expect do be doing 4 jobs...supervisor asked what 4 jobs...she stated naming off things and the super said ...those aren't jobs, they are tasks of one job..that's what it takes to be an admin here. She then began to flip out and kept saying "if youre going to fire me, then just do it now" (like 4 times) something about her husband is not even talking to her anymore cause she is just so overwhelmed. Then when the super kept saying ...yes its a lot of things..but we dont expect you to know it all right now. She then started yelling...saying what a terrible trainer she was etc. So the super said "why dont we make this your last day then" she then asked "why?" Are you really firing me? Then stormed out over to the OM, bitches to her (the OM was pissed lol)...then she stormed outta the building.

The women couldn't even forward an email...yes an email. She wouldn't take any notes when being trained...the super hadn't even begun getting into the bigger things cause she couldn't even do the easy stuff. What a relief...I knew it and hopefully they see that it had nothing to do with me...she was just psychotic! She made sure to blame all...so it wouldn't make her look incompetent...instead of bowing out gracefully.

If you don't want to step up, then there will always be a boss you have to answer to. So, she's not really gone ... soon another will be present.

Why would you think they would consider you having involvement? Did you actually have a hand in it, and just don't want anyone to realize it?

I'm not sure why you would say something like that if you weren't involved in any way.

Anyway, her kind of personality is probably the kind the boss is looking for .... so, maybe you should brace yourself.

I was talking about before P...when she flipped out on me. Its obvious that it is a pattern with her...and hopefully they see that it was not me, it was her all along. I dont dabble in trying to get someone fired...karma is always strong on that. The OM is not hiring the next one...the super is. Some of the partners thought it was ridiculous that she was even hired...since she walked out before but they're not the big boss...so they kept it to themselves.

I stayed far away from her as I could...I was professional (like I said I would be) but other than that...I worked and kept to myself. Apparently the OM took her to lunch the day before...she told the super that she always takes new employees to lunch. Funny ...she'snever taken anyone before her...so it will be interesting to see if she does with the new employees who are starting on Monday. I can guarantee thats a negative.
