Virgo talks about his ex.. Normal?

I have recently started dating a Virgo guy and things have been good. There is one thing I do notice and it's that he brings up his ex. He references her a lot. For example I told him I was an art major he started asking questions and then say his ex was an art major too and that's how she thought of art... Blah blah. I asked him when and why they broke up and he said a year ago and they fought too much. He said she wants to get back with him or she'll say "baby I miss you" texts that he supposedly ignores. He said she's crazy in the head and he has no plans of ever getting back with her. I asked him if he wanted to be with her and he said no if I did I would be. He said he was cool with her. Like if they saw one another there wouldn't be any hate. On our date last night he took me to a place by his house (which he at first asked if I wanted to go somewhere by mine but I was more curious about what he likes) well he got us a table so we could talk and drink. He was adamant about picking my brain. After hours of talking he wanted to get one more shot at the bar. That's when some people he knew worked there came up. He was being very affectionate with me still and introduced me to everyone but then when they walked away he tells me one of the girls I met is close with his ex. I was like oh... She then comes back and she was being really nice to me while talking to us. Finally he asked if I was ready to go and he told her goodbye. As I was saying nice to meet you she reached out for a hug. Lol I don't know it was all weird. I couldn't tell if there's anything to worry about or not. He was with his ex for 4 years and said it was his first love. Which I understand I broke up with my first love exactly a year ago too and it took me awhile to finally let go. I just don't want to get hurt again so does any of this seem off or normal? I didn't get the vibe that he still loves her but I think he enjoys her drama a little bit. Any advice?
