He was born with it (DR's didn't know why he was getting hurt all the time and not healing) and as a matter of fact...its all over GOOGLE about his story. In a recent article in the paper about him (I deleted name and other info):
Rare Disease Ends NHL Dream: Following his junior season at XX in 1987, "Leo" tried out for the 1988 U.S. Olympic team. During this time, he was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder known as Christmas Disease. The condition prevented his blood from clotting properly when he was cut, and made it impossible for him to keep playing. Despite his great potential, it appeared he would never play hockey again. But while "Leo" was out of the game, medicine to treat his condition became available -- enabling him to attempt a comeback if he was willing to inject himself with the medication four times each day. The medicine, however, was very expensive -- costing hundreds of thousands of dollars per year. "Leo" managed to find funding for the treatments and began his comeback by joining the U.S. Olympic team for its 1991-92 pre-OIympic tour.

Remember that cell phone trauma? It ended up being a good thing. This is what happened....
Virguys old Hockey Agent was at the bar that night....(he WAS HOT...but married) took my phone and called a firend of his who was in Florida at the time and left a message "I am calling from this girls phone, she is absolutely beautiful and you HAVE to ask her out". Well, that was weeks ago. Yesterday get a call from this guy who Agent called that night.
"Hi Sophie, my friend called me I guess from your phone a few weeks ago, and left some babbling message about you. I was in FLA and got home and he told me about you"
Well, now I had it figured out what happened that night. Hockey Agent proabably also called Virguy too from my phone.
We chatted a bit, and decided to go out tonight. I said "You have no idea what I look like and vice versa" First he said "I trust my friends judgement" and He told me to go online and see a pix as he is the head Hockey Coach for a Big College here in Boston and also scouts all over the world for hockey players. He was (ugghh) a professional Hockey player until he got hemophilia (sp?) and couldnt play anymore.
I looked up his name in google...lots of articles and pix... he is so hot! 39 yrs, old, 6'2"....ok...he is also a Leo. So I then sent him an email as promised with a picture of me.
His response: "My friend was right"
So...right back at ch'ya Mr. Virguy! Your own friend set me up with someone else...HA HA!. And no my friends, I don't give a crap about Virguy anymore!
