Confused by Aqua male!

I'm a Leo sun with Sagi moon, and my friend is an Aqua Sun with Leo moon. We're both in our mid/late 20s and we've known each other since high school and we've always been great friends. I moved away for a while after graduating but when I came back 4 years ago he was always at my door asking me to hang out! I couldn't get away from him! When I realized that he liked me at that point I ran away from him. Literally moved to a different state for a few months. Then a year ago he came to visit (he lived 5 hours away) and we spent hours together talking and having fun. Later in the evening while sitting around with our friends he had told me that when we were younger he'd had the hugest crush on me(which I already knew!). After that we became flirty hugged/kissed but I didn't sleep with him. He left the next day to go back home. We kept in touch a lot after that, and I went to stay with him for a weekend, and we hooked up. I went back home and we still stayed in touch daily.

A month later we were making plans for me to visit again, but he said there was a funeral, and some things going on so he canceled at the last minute on me, and pulled away. I didn't hear from him much after that. We ran into each other again a few months ago at a friends wedding and spent the day together, but we ended up arguing because he made some comment about if he got married I'd murder him (I'd previously told him I didn't really want to get married, because people usually just end up divorcing). After that I didn't see him again for months until last Friday at a bonfire with our friends. We drank and had fun and one thing lead to another and I ended up staying the night with him. He was supposed to work that morning, but he took the day off instead and spent it sitting around with me while playing video games saying he "just wanted to relax". At least until he got a call for help from a friend which I didn't mind. As I was leaving he said that his next day off was Tuesday but he already had other plans, and I didn't really follow up with anything so he gave me lots of hugs and kisses before sending me on my way. He's always so affectionate(I'm far more reserved with my affections) and we also always seem to exchange things. He gave me a key chain for a "good luck charm" and he has had my necklace hanging in his car for nearly a year now. He also exchanged hats with me since we both like wearing hats. Or he'll make sure I have everything I need like food, something to drink, or

Or he'll make sure I have everything I need food, something to drink, or bringing me things he knows I'll really like (video games, movies, and the like). Always pampering me and catering to me!

Is this behavior normal for an aqua male? And is it safe to say at this point that he likes me enough to date?

I've always read that aquas are aloof or unemotional/detached but he doesn't seem that way at all to me. He has quiet moments where he looks like he's deep in thought or just watching/listening intently, and then some one will say something and there's that grin of his and he's laughing away! I absolutely adore his quirkiness, and the fact that we can both do our own thing with our own friends then come back to each other and sparks fly everywhere! I just didn't want to date him before because I'm fiercely independent, and I don't want to part with my freedom. However, lately I've found myself contemplating a relationship with him, but I have no desire to chase him or pressure him for one if that's not what he's really after.
