Don't want him to doubt me.

Well,so this aqua guy and me,we've like had a rollercoaster of emotions for the past 3 years and everything was very complicated.There were spells of radio silence and I always tried to maintain contact .Now things have been great for past one month, we connected instantly and have hung out twice since.Last time when we met,he started probing my feelings and asked me why I became unsure of him as time passed and if I ever was serious for him.We ended up cuddling for the first time but I didn't let him kiss me.while cuddling, I told him I was still unsure about my feelings,that although I like him but am not sure if its just casual or more.He told me he likes me for the past 3 years and that I'm an amazing girl.Also I jokingly told him I'll never go to any private place with him now 😛 .when we were returning back, he said he'll feel shy looking at me now. Lol. 😛 I told him we should continue being just friends (because I need time to process).he however continued behaving like a teen in love.He then dropped me and called me again.We had a brief convo.Now,the thing is,I had told him I'll be going out with my friends the next day(Friday),however, our plan got postponed to Sunday.Now,he accidentally saw me with a friend of mine (girl) at a nearby market on Friday,and he gave me this confused smile because obviously, I was supposed to be somewhere else that day.I gave him a casual smile.Now,I'm confused if I should give him an explanation or just let it be.I don't want to give him reasons to doubt me again,he's already been unsure of me in the past(don't know why) and I don't want him to doubt me again but .also,I don't want to act girlfriend-ish.Should I call him now or call him a few days later and then casually explain the scenario then,because I really want to space out our convos because I'm unsure if I want to be with him.

I would drop him a text saying - It was cool seeing you today.. trip got postponed to Sunday. LOL, Anyway talk to you soon winky face.

If you were going to give him an explanation, you should have done it when you saw him. Doing it late does look like you were busted and needed time to find an excuse for not doing what you said you were going to be doing. However, better late than never. Just ask how was his weekend and then explain yours. Don't make it look like you're making an effort to explain.
