On being aloof and unemotional.

Well, I keep reading this. It makes me laugh.

Aloof: we appear this way because we're not overly emotional about illogical things and melodramatic displays of draining emotional rubbish over the small stuff. If you're having a meltdown over a laddered pair of stockings or because your football team lost - it isn't a huge deal to use because in the grand scheme of life, it's just not that important, it's not the end of the world. Sympathy is limited.
If we like you/have a crush on you/secretly have a thing for you, we'll stand back a while, check you out, see where we think your priorities are, and if you're not overly interested in being on the same wavelength or there's something going on that we know we can't tolerate in the long-term, we may appear aloof.
If we're interested enough to understand what makes you tick - we'll observe.
If we don't like you - we're aloof.
If we REALLY like you - we're aloof.
If you irritate us - we're aloof.
If it's a Saturday - we're aloof because we feel like it. Next Saturday may be different.

Getting it yet? It's just what we DO.

Unemotional: Never underestimate what goes on underneath. You may not see us throw our hands in the air and cry buckets of tears while emptying a drum of snot over our t-shirt...but we may do it in private. It'll happen more often than we'll admit to.
You may not see us get angry over something...we'll go away, simmer and then get back to you once we've decided it's not a big deal or whether it needs talking about.
If you show displays of emotion and it catches us offguard - you may not get the same response, but if we like you and we like what we're hearing, we're a bowl of wobbly jelly underneath - but we need to process it.
Unemotional? Not at all - it's just a very private thing for Aquas.

Irritate us or make us angry and you'll get a whole pile of emotion you never bargained for. It'll be in your face, so get ready for it.

Excuse me, I'm off to look aloof and wipe snotty tears on the back of the jersey I'm wearing....while contemplating how best to solve the humanitarian issues of the world, check in with my mates, save a burning kitten from a building and gather the necessary tools to make World Peace. And this is just today's list, phew!
