I don't know whether it's my mom being a mother, but whenever things seem to be rough either for her, me, or the both of us, she'll always keep positive and remind me that things will work out and be okay, even if we have no idea whether that's true. Being a virgo and just generally dealing with a lot of anxiety, if I sense something is bad, I can shut down due to anxiety and I have a hard time calming myself down. My mother, even if we haven't always been able to connect emotionally, has always made me feel that things might be alright even though it might seem like the end of the world.

I just wanted to know, is this a trait that a lot of aquarians share?

I'm very optimistic with my friends/family too. While they're sharing their horror stories, I'll still try to be the 1 person that gives positive advice, even if I'm secretely thinking, "Holy shxt! You're screwed!"

Yes, I can be bluntly harsh & tell people things they don't want to hear in situations where they want my words to be sugar-coated, BUT with the harsh truth, I always like to throw in a positive quote or saying somewhere in there so that they can atleast leave the convo knowing that 1. Yes, they heard the harsh truth BUT 2. The world isn't over though.

I have a way of giving advice to my friends that when they get off the phone with me, they later on tell me that I had a "way with words" & have ways of making them feel better and/or that everything will be alright even in the worsts of circumstances.

I can especially tell when someone is simply venting a horror story to me, not b/c they need to be told the truth, but moreso b/c they're looking for that ONE person who can offer some optimism. Once I get the sense that you're needing that 1 peg & glimmer of hope, I'll give it to you =)

I can say the same about my Aqua friends. They have a way of making me yes, face the harsh realities of whatever situation I'm in, but also allowing the other 50% of their advice to be towards problem solving & having a clear head. While I'm harping on all the flaws I have or the bad things, they are thinking of all the good things so that I won't go completely off the deep end.

Lol, I wouldn't necessarily say that my mother has a way with words, that was never her strong point, but I think she could sense when I was becoming overly anxious and upset about something, and that I just needed to know that things are okay. I'm very much a realist so I'm often telling myself the truth about situations more so than giving myself an extra boost so I don't freak out. And I think, since she's a mother, it's sort of in her to make sure that I'm not curled up in a fetal position over a certain situation lol.

But it is interesting to see. I haven't met too many Aquas who weren't extremely pessimistic. More frustrated than anything about how something needed to be done to fix a situation.

Very true. Aquas are problem-solvers. We don't mind hearing someone vent for 2 hours or go into the most irrelevant detail(s) b/c we know that when it's finally time for us to give advice, it's going to be centered around problem-solving..i.e. the bigger picture. We hate not having all the puzzle pieces to solve something OR having all the puzzle pieces & yet still not knowing how to solve it. It drives us crazy!

Aquas are cause & effect types of people. We like hearing all the tiny details only b/c it brings us closer to our final conclusions on what needs to happen to fix or fuse a situation. We don't like staying in the "details" or the middle too long. We like getting to the end...of course, that's the trademark of a "hero" lol lol...always comes to save the day at the END

I think you have a great mom. Mine is Aqua and she is known thoughout the family as being negative. BUT, I also think that being intellectuals and logical (much like Virgos) most of 'em prob get a bad rap for being real yet like all folks, some of them take the pessimism to the extreme.

Well, my relationship with my mother has been very up and down. She was incredibly hyper critical when I was younger which made it hard for us to have a close relationship. We only started getting much closer after I moved out for college almost 3 years ago. But yes, she seems to go back and forth between negative and positive. There are moments when she is very positive, but at other moments she'll become either negative or too much of a realist. But when she is positive, it helps me a lot; when she isn't, well, you know how that goes lol.

For me, I sometimes don't see the point in moaning about things. I'm all about being productive. Yes, have your rant and everything, but be ready to try to resolve it. So I help those in that way and thinking.

I know often it comes across in a cold way, but I do see it help as a practical tool to make things better. I'll offer the sympathy and time. What annoys me is when the person don't take heed and come back to me lol.
