What do you think I should do here?

I'm good friends with an aquarius male who's (not surprising) never very open about his feelings. Out out of the blue though last week he sends me a random text saying "Just thinking about how good a friend you are to me and what a dick I am. That's all." He's never said anything like that before, so it sort of came out of left field, and I wasn't sure how to take it. So I asked him what brought this on to make him say this? No response. We often joke around so I then asked if he plans on being an even bigger jerk and was this just a precursor of what's to come? No response. I let a few days go by and reached out to tell him I was thinking about him and ask what's going on. A few days later still no response, yet I can see he's read every single one of my texts.

What do you think? Was he opening up a bit and maybe I hurt his feelings by joking? Should I let him be for awhile? It's just weird, he'll typically respond to me, but has been radio silent since his comment. I'm just not sure what to make of it.

It was a slight moment of making ammends or a moment of feeling guilt or something. He's over it now and doesn't want to discuss it anymore. Leave it be. Don't keep bringing it up.
