In Nigeria, some states enforce strict laws against adultery, including death by stoning. These laws reflect local customs and religious practices and are highly controversial. Legal punishments for adultery vary by region and are often based on traditional or religious laws rather than international human rights standards.
It is sickening when you hear about this kind of thing being the "norm" in other countries.
It`s even sadder when you realize that these people don`t "modernize" their laws or otherwise make them more humanely justifiable. And why isn't the man being held responsible??
130,
I have been following the story for almost a year. I was hoping they would spare her her life. She was raped by her uncle and became pregnant and that made her automatically accused of the crime. She was only allowed to live as long as she had because of the infant. She was allowed to give birth and nurse him until weaned at six months and then they were going to stone her. I never was so sad and sick and cried in my whole life when I read what goes on! Makes you think about what it is you have here in this country!
Why do humans treat other humans this way? What is it in our make up that let's us do something like this? I don't understand. Where is the love and compassion for others? Yes, I will agree, this is terrible, it is unjust, it is inhumane....no one should have to experience this...the longer I live the more I realize that I do not understand the motives of humans. I also realize that it is okay for me to not understand them because I can't. We do not think a like. We are individuals..we are different...we are weird...what are we really? geeze....life, got me. I'm gonna go back to my freezer and eat the rest of my Ben and Jerry's ice cream.... I really feel bad for that woman and then again, I am so thankful that I live where I do. But, this stuff happens here too.
Need to find a very large spoon.
I don't know either why people do the things they do. I believe it's getting worse everyday. Or maybe I just am watching the news too much, but I don't remember things being quite this cruel! Do you? When I hear stuff like this going on, I ask God to hurry up and get here, and blast the planet clean! Then again, I don't want to go just yet. I shouldn't care because I am a believer it is for the best!
that ice cream sounds good! I can't have any beause I am lactose intolerant. I still do somethimes but then I get really sick for about two days, so have some for me too, ok!!!
Goodnight and God Bless!
Dear 205,
I did as you asked of me...I ate the rest of the ice-cream. One bite was for me and finishing off the qt. was for you. I figured you hadn't had some in quite awhile so I made up for that.
It is now morning and I am hungry for breakfast...a friend was supposed to come over and cook me something. I'm thinking that I am going to fend for myself...any suggestions?
Oh, I do NOT want to use a spoon for this meal.
Well, how come you are always hungry—
Everytime I talk to you you're eating?
Do you know what that does? It makes me hungry and I don't want to be!LOL
And that goes for sex too!
Knock it off, ok!J/K
I would have scrambled eggs with little pieces of diced ham and toast, and OJ! OK, tomorrow.
PS: and you are invited! No sense in eating alone!
Why am I always hungry— I was born that way. I am hungry for life, for action, for food, for learning, for sex, for EVERYTHING!!!!!! I think hunger is another name for "desire"...at least for me it is. Sometimes I just make up my own rules and have fun creating whatever comes my way. I have been thinking about food and for some reason, to tell you the truth....I have no clue why. That was my momental thought. Okay, now what shall we chat about? Oh yeah,....thanks for inviting me 🙂 You are a very kind person.
Let's chat about what scented candles we like to burn during the fall.
I like vanilla cookie and pumkin pie.
Tag YOU'RE it!!!!!
Candles ignite my senses.....
24,
LOL! I am glad you have such a huge appetite! It's always rewarding to cook for someone that likes to eat!
Well, I love scented candles!!! I have a box of votive candles sitting next to me and I burned them all, but the box is very pretty and it smells good when I open the lid! My sis gave them to me for Christmas last year! I like anthing that smells of cinnamon too!!
I'd rather talk about sex in the fall!
Ps: there was one in the box called sugar cookie that was to die for, and there was a rose scented one that was pretty nice too! I like them all!
People can we please stay on topic. This isn't the cooking channel, and it's kind of insulting that people are making light of this topic. Make up another board about food and sex if you want, but this is about a woman facing death. Thanks.
Yes! Very sorry I forgot about that! No disprespect intended and I feel bad!
ditto here too....thanks for keeping us on track 🙂 Absolutely NO disrespect was intended here. Just changing lanes in life. Back on path.
Yes, it is about a woman facing death! This world has been a harsh place for me as far back as I can remember...I didn't want to bring a child into such an environment...but, as it happens...I did..
I still say that it would seem hard to believe that one would not know about how the Muslim religion/beliefs works (and how the females are treated is part of all that!!)
They obviously do not respect women and this is not a new concept as far as they are concerned...
I am curious why it is surprising now?
What world have you been living in??
