Saturn in synastry

Ok so I've come to understand that saturn is an important factor in understanding a couples synastry. What I'd like to know is does is matter who's Saturn is contacted as opposed to who's doing to contacting? Would both parties feel the same depth or is more of the Saturn person being the "restrictive" one... This is all so confusing! Lol

I'd greatly appreciate some insight 😄
