Travels: 3rd house Vs 9th house?

9th house/Sagittarius/Jupiter deals with long distance/term travels.3rd house/Gemini/Mercury deals with short distance/term travels.
What about a short term long distance travel?
Yesterday I was looking for transits of past unforgettable days. In the day that I moved to a city far from home, my 9th house was on fire.

These two houses are said to rule travels but what is the difference between them?
I have Jupiter in the 3rd and Saturn in the 9th, I thinking about travelling for 3months and I want to know to what house should I look at.
