Beliefs you left behind?

What are some mindsets or beliefs you grew up with that you ledge behind? What age did you dismiss them and why?

-horoscopes, around 8

-religion, around 13, aka as soon as I could form my own independant thinkings

-astrology, around 20, when I realized the prevalence of confirmation bias in our way of thinking

Organized religion at 16. The belief that life is fair was shattered later.

that my Dad could do anything - lol - age 43 when I finally saw the light ...

Age 23. Dad had a mild stroke still recovering until now. I lost my strong Dad.

I dismiss these from my system:

1. Treat ppl how you want to be treated

2. Dad loves me

3. I don't need nobody but myself

4. Marriage = happiness

5. Everybody has their agenda on me

Upcoming, I think

6. Islam - but I am still fearful to dismiss it and have not found enough arguments

You can leave Islam and keep God.

-That my religion is the only one that's correct: 8 years old, after learning and studying the religions of my friends & classmates, and realizing how arrogant it would be to think so

-That God loves you: 12 years old, after realizing that if there is a transcendent being that created and/or looks over all of us, wouldn't emotions be too primitive to such an advanced being?

-That humanity is worth saving: don't remember how old, but despite the fact that I still tithe and donate to charities, I am a bit misanthropic

-That I wouldn't live to see 30: on my 30th birthday

-Astrology/Synastry: few years ago when I started analyzing charts within the relationships of my friends, and things that shouldn't work out have worked out just fine. This was solidified when my ex & I broke up even though we were nearly astrologically perfect

can you even abandon islam without leaving your family?

I mean aren't they supposed to kill the apostates?

Organized religion

Blood is thicker than water / Family has your back, strangers don't.

Adults know what they're doing. They're wiser / more responsible.

Causes are worth forsaking everything/ Principles are everything.

Any type of "higher" calling.

Life is fair.
