Seriously and enjoy the fireworks and get togethers and all - but i dont get what people are celebrating. Whats there to celebrate about an upcoming year? Do people really think their lives are gonna change overnight making all these new yrs resolutions and crap. Lol
If you didnt manage to get your shit done in 2015 , 2016 is not going to be any diff.
Celebrate real accomplishments not the end of a mere calendar.
Then again, just an excuse for people to get wasted & spend the money they dont have on shit they dont need.

Of course nothing changes overnight with the change of a calendar year. Like you say it's just an excuse to get together, celebrate, laugh and spend some bucks. Many people enjoy this. That's all there is to it really.

Really in a sense living isn't easy. Just being the sperm and egg that got to make the exact baby you turned out to be was near impossible. Every year millions of people die, yet you still stand. Its about just taking a moment to appreciate life imo.

My thoughts exactly. What are we celebrating? Is a year really a precise measure of time?
Everyone has their own rythm, some cycles of life last months, others years, maybe 5 years, maybe 10, or 20, or 50....
It all depends. A year on it's own and for everybody...no meaning.

Other years it was a sign that I made it through the year. It also signaled that it was time to get et ready for the summer and travel plans. This new years is miserable though.

Why do we celebrate thanksgiving or Easter? Why do we mourn death? Why is up, up and down, down? All arbitrary human constructs based off what we decide to place value on as a culture and what we've come to a consensus as a society.

Yes the temporal element was what l talked about...why once a year?
Also, once you're dead you know nothing. So it's really stupid actually.

He's like there's no real passion in the world anymore it's all for show.

We prob should. Hard to find people who can see past all that bs nowadays

More so on social media imo.

On those live coverages, you gotta give what people want to see for the show, so I get it.

I think you're under the assumption that celebrations of life do not happen throughout the year...which is false. Life is celebrated when people die, when your spending the holidays with your family, when you look into your beloveds eyes on valentines day and thank God or whomever you worship that you're blessed with such love.

No one knows what you will uncover once you die...but that's part of the mystery. Š Also it's rather ironic that you said that on an Astrology website when astrology speaks of reincarnation and how our past zodiac signs carry over to the next.

No one knows why they celebrate. It's a tradition that gives idiots a chance not to think, just act on impulse with no reasons, no philosophy, no idea about life or anything at all.

Š That's very condescending. Celebrations have been apart of mankind for centuries. From ancient civilizations to modern ones. I'm curious: what is your reason for being on this site, which is devoted to philosophy about the stars and how they influence life?

Im just stating the facts, if it's condescending that's because of you...
