at work we have many cancers while three of us were born in the middle of july, me being a 2nd decan and the other 2 being 3rd decan. two other were born around the cusp one gem/can cusp (or may be a little later but in jun) the other is on the can/leo cusp. naturally as we are individuals we are all different in personality. I use to think one of the 3 decans was a aries a fire sign becuase she is extremely out going and has no problem approaching people she does not know whereas the rest of us are more on the shy quiet side.

my job also has 3 leos and a sagitarious, I have noticed that these signs get along better with the 3 of us born in the middle of july (our birthday are in consecutive days) and like the can/leo cusp a little less but I think that has to do with her being second in commend and really sympathizing with the jun cancer (actualy with the exception of the more outgoing cancer the rest of us cancer don't mind her) the jun cancer is hated on by all of the fire signs.

my question is does the decan affect our personalities because it is quiet a contrast to how the others view us? Have you noticed a difference in yourselves and other can with respect to birth month? and if so what difference do you see in people of different month decans?

I've always noticed a difference with other cancers and I didn't know why until I found out about the cusp thing. The other cancers that I knew were mostly in the middle, they were not career-oriented but more wanted to be stay at home moms. I noticed that a lot with cancers. I've always been more career oriented, however I don't have any children so I guess we'll see eventually.

"CLC I am in the middle and i am very career oriented, yes I want kids (at least 5) but I also want a career because I know staying home will not mke me happy and not having kids will also not make me happy. so for me having a successfulcareer, being a great mother and wife is the ultimate life accomplishment I can ever have."

Then my theory just went to shit. Just something I noticed with people I grew up with who were Cancers-went to college and got a degree or just did some college classes, but never used any of it.

FIRST DECAN:

The First Decan of Cancer is also known as the Cancer Decante and the "Week of the Empath." This Decan is the most typical of its native Sign, meaning that individuals born during this period believe that change is the only constant in life and may often feel that they wake up to a totally different world every day. This particular span of days could well be described as the "Rollercoaster Decan" since the lives of its subjects can rise to exciting peaks and then plunge equally as quickly into the darkest depths with very little notice or warning. However, some comfort can be taken in the knowledge that when this cycle appears to be at it lowest ebb, it will soon turn upward. Natives of this First Decan are the most subject of all Cancer individuals to be influenced by their surroundings. Thus, they need to work constantly to stay away from all manner of negatives. Companions and associates should be chosen with the utmost caution since negative personality types will only serve to pull these individuals down. First Decan Cancer subjects should avoid living in places that are lacking in cheefulness and brightness. They should also be encouraged to read, study and become students of positive thinking. Since the Moon is the primary planet governing this Decan, the Full Phase and New Phase of this celestial body will exercise a very potent personal influence over its natives and important decisions should never be made during the Full Moon period. Parents will be of supreme importance to First Decan Cancer individuals, one of whom (most likely the mother) will be a major influence in the lives of these subjects...either in a positive or negative fashion. What was or was not taught during the early years is paramount in helping or hindering the progress of First Decan natives and they will feel more content if they remain in contact with parents and other family members as long as it is possible to do so. It will be necessary for these individuals to work on controlling their inherent restlessnes lest they become the "rolling stone that gathers no moss." The influence of Mercury (one of the secondary planets governing this Decan) is apparent here, but the Moon, in and of itself, is doubly strong and only partially swayed by the minor influence of Venus (the other secondary planet governing this Decan) which provides periods of swift changeability and somewhat radical changes. Sociability with these natives is prone to swing toward extreme suspi

SECOND DECAN:

The Second Decan of Cancer is also known as the Scorpio Decante and the "Week of the Unconventional." The influence of Pluto, one of the secondary planets governing this Decan, can induce some interesting differences but chiefly adds more willpower to natives of this Decan, resulting in individuals who can persist long enough to fully realize the benefits and rewards of a personal goal. Pluto also provides a secretive and psychic personality. This Second Decan is certainly not as prone to the "rolling stone" syndrome as is the First as is the First Decan of Cancer. These subjects, ruled as they are by the Moon (primary governing planet of this Decan) may be somewhat overly-secretive, regarded by those around them as rather mysterious...difficult to get to know or even understand. This does not mean that such individuals are too complex, but rather that they cover up or hide so much of themselves that, on occasion, they may frustrate others who would like to know more in order to feel closer. Given that this native may well be above the average in terms of sex appeal, then there certainly will be those who would like to know this character immediately. While Second Decan Cancer individuals are tenacious, they need to be careful not to overdo this quality to the point that they are perceived as unyielding, stubborn or bull-headed. This Second Decan is one of mutually-shared benefits and responsbilities, indicative of markedly financial gain and otherwise, assuming care is taken in forming unions and/or making agreements. There is a fondness here for investigation and finding out what makes everything and everyone "tick," which can be a valuable asset if the chosen profession requires research or discovery. However, if this inclination is pursued too far...particularly in personal relationships...it could backfire and cause a negative reaction from those who may well perceive this to be prying. There is a bold and willful manner associated with the indecision displayed by Second Decan individuals. When action is taken, these natives are determined, but have a tendency to become stubborn on other points. They are also forceful when met with opposition and hasty actions frequently lead to spells of gloominess. Thus, those who fall within the jurisdiction of this Decan should curb the quick impulses fostered by Mercury (another secondary governing planet of this Decan). The strengthening influence of Mars (the third secondary planet governing th

THIRD DECAN:

The Third Decan of Cancer is also known as the Pisces Decante and the "Week of the Persuader." The influence of Neptune, one of the secondary planets governing this Decan, can induce some unique and interesting characteristics but chiefly adds much to everyday creativity and imagination which is useful in the general creative process. This can be of great advantage since it provides natives of Cancer with the ability to employ their inherent good taste with wardrobe and make-up, as well as in the selection of embellishments for the personal environment. Third Decan subjects might be good interior decorators, window dressers, gardners or landscape artists. They are also often talented with a paintbrush, musical instrument, sewing machine or sculpting clay. In short, these natives appreciate most art forms and generally have an excellent sense of rhythm. In order to achieve greatest happiness and efficiency, Third Decan Cancer individuals must attune their personalities to the beat of life itself. Of all Cancer individuals, it is those of this Third Decan who are likely to be the most sensitive, prone to laugh easily or cry with the minimum amount of triggering. Thus, it is vital that these natives avoid negative people and negative environments. Falling under the jurisdication of both Neptune and the Moon (primary governing planet of this Decan), these subjects are inclined to "soak up" practically everything that is around them. Third Decan Cancer natives tend to be somewhat private by nature and may need to work a little harder in order to bring their many talents and abilities to actual fruition. They are probably fairly well-adjusted to accepting the fact that they will generally experience delays and setbacks more often than most others. These natives are the most romantic and idealistic of Cancer individuals when it comes to matters of the heart. However, it will be necessary to exercise at least a little extra practicality to avoid involvement in emotional alliances that are going nowhere. Some Third Decan individuals also tend to be heavily influenced by Jupiter (the other secondary planet governing this Decan) which provides much strength to the character. Nonetheless, the influence of the increasingly intense nature of the Moon will always be apparent, even though Jupiter can furnish good judgment and steadiness to an otherwise fluctuating personality. Indeed, when needed, Jupter is able to stir Third Decan Cancer natives to action

Commercial success is not unusual for these individuals, provided they refuse to be swayed by the vacillating Lunar influence. Otherwise, they may become egotistical and talkative, being far too concerned with trifles to accomplish great things. The character of this Third Decan Cancer subject may be classified as that of a spiritually-attuned dreamer...one who is in love with glamor and possesses a creative imagination that could degenerate into escapism when the mood is "blue." On the positive side, those who fall within the jurisdication of this Decan can be caring rescuers with many artistic talents. Such individuals adore music, dance and romance and tend not to get their feelings hurt too easily. Water is of paramount importance to these natives they will undoubtedly be happiest near the sea or a lake. There is a tendency here to put on weight and these individuals benefit greatly from education and travel. The motto of the Third Decan of Cancer is "Research."

suspicion and the inherent urge for romance and adventure may suddenly switch to self-sufficiency. These are capable souls, but tend to do so many things that they fail to recognize their own faults. Diplomatic individuals who often keep very much to themselves, First Decan Cancer subjects are nontheless loving, nurturing and protective of private life and family, often "mothering" those closest to them. There is a danger here for food to become an obsession or instrument of comfort and once such a habit has been formed, it may be difficult to break the cycle. Females will invariably play an important role in the adult life of any Cancer subject...a mother or a sister, for example...and there is an inherent need within this individual to know that he or she will always be number one with the chosen partner. While tenacious, sympathetic, loving and idealistic, there is a tendency toward moodiness, suspicion and pessimism in this First Decan and, if not careful, those who fall under its jurisdication could easily become "nags" who harbor an inferiority complex. The motto of the First Decan of Cancer is "Moods."

The constellation associated with this Decan is Canis Minor (also known as The Little Dog). It is representative of a creature suseptible to the influences of others. Canis Minor is the playful and smaller companion of Canis Major (The Great Dog). It contains only two bright stars. One is Alpha Canis Minoris, also known as Procyon (Greek for "before the dog" since it rises before Sirius, the brilliant "Dog Star" of Canis Major). This star is a beautiful deep yellow in color and follows Orion across the heavens. The other bright star of Canis Minor is called Gomeisa. Canis Minor was one of Orion's hunting dogs and also said to be one of the hounds of Actaeon. When Acteon surprised Artemis (Greek Goddess of the Chase and the Forests) while she was bathing in a pond with her companions, he became spellbound by her great beauty and paused for a moment to watch her. When Artemis noticed Acteon gazing upon her, she became furious that a mortal had seen her unclothed and turned the unfortunate watcher into a stag. Then, she set her pack of hounds upon him until Acteon was chased down and devoured.

this Decan) needs to be combined with the skill of Mercury in order for these natives to counter-balance the wavering moods inherent in the character of the Moon. These subjects are strong Cancer individuals but the associated temperament may lean in favor of being dictatorial and domineering. Blessed with tremendous energy, there is a strong inclination to gravitate toward the limelight and money is representative of security and power to the Second Decan Cancer. These subjects will foster a number of undisclosed secrets and may have trouble in letting down their guard, being reluctant to trust others. Psychic awareness is very apparent and those ruled by this Decan adore mysteries...particularly those which are associated with real life. There is a great tendency for these individuals to emit a seductive aura, but it comes naturally to the character. When Second Decan natives are able to rule their passions, then they excel. However, when the passions themselves rule, then the individual is likely to become manipulative and possessive. The motto of the Second Decan of Cancer is "Revelation."

The constellation associated with this Decan is the Hydra (also known as The Sea Serpent), representative of power and the persistence of desires which, if repressed, could become even stronger. It is said that desires may be sublimated into creative expression but cannot be denied without cost. In mythology, the Hydra was a monster with nine heads, each so poisonous that even the breath could kill. When Heracles attempted to slay the monster by crushing its heads (as part of his Twelve Labors), even more grew back to replace them. Eventually, Heracles' companion and nephew, Iolaus, seared each stump with a burning branch. The last head, which was immortal, had to be buried beneath a heavy rock. As with most large constellations, astrological mapmakers over the years have attempted to break up the snaking form of the Hydra, which slithers a quarter of the way across the heavens.
