Cap female, cancer male

Hi. I'm new here and could use some insight into the cancer male I'm dealing with. I'm newly separated, but started seeing the cancer while I was still married. This caused an unbelievable amount of tension between us, but it got better after I separated. However, he is still concerned that I'm going to go back to my husband or dump him when I get divorced.

So now I'm getting the silent treatment periodically, him picking fights about NOTHING, just an incredible amount of hot and cold behavior. I suggested to him that we just stop seeing each other until my divorce is final, but he declares he doesn't want that. Not having sex anymore, he doesn't want to see me, won't initiate text messages or phone calls....beyond frustrating. As a Cap, I really have a low tolerance for this and have told him so. Currently, we are in the middle of another silent treatment. I'm just frustrated. Why won't he let go? This is obviously wearing on both of us...but we love each other. My head says cut my losses, my heart says go slow and be patient. Chart information below:

Silent treatments, passive aggressive behavior and the like is a form of abuse. Trust and know that you can do better. Going through a divorce is an emotionally frustrating time. You need support, not a silent brooding cry baby. Tell him bye-bye and to only contact you once he has his stuff together.

And that's what my head is screaming to do! I would rather do it in person, but he continues to ignore me this past couple of weeks. Sigh...

Don't push to make contact to tell him this. Maintain your composure. If the opportunity comes up (only when he contacts you), then you tell him.

Any effort you make to keep contacting him is just enabling him to treat you poorly. Read this article on disappearing acts, silent treatments when you get time. It helped me a lot.
