Elle- I do lemon water but not hot. I drink lemon water all day.

My Insanity videos got here. Starting Monday.

And also, I gave up on dieting for the week until Insanity got here, and I'm down a pound. Stress is a killer, I tell you. I think I was not eating enough. WTF? How is that possible?

MMM- I hear ya. I have been so busy this week and I really have been slacking because I wanted to wait since I'm starting this new program.

How is everyone doing?
Feeling fit yet?

I'm on Day 4 of Insanity.
Day 1: fit test. did better than I thought I would.
Day 2: first workout- I couldn't do half of it. Walking up the stairs to sit on the couch with the scorp had me digging deeper. lol. So sore.
Day 3: A little less intense than the other two, at least I could do all the exercises.

I am doing the nutrition plan, kinda. 5 small meals a day.

My energy level is through the roof! Cut down to 1 cup of coffee per day. No diet soda or other caffeinated beverages. Just water. Lost 1 pound the first week already.

My Cap friend and I walked the trail yesterday. I Finally got him to go out there, and we walked 4miles in total.

Im not trying to get in no bikinis, but I do want to get as firm as possible before the summer.

Ill probably go walk 5 miles around the mountain tomorrow.



lol. I sit all day every day at the pool with my son in the summer. And I can't swim. So I need to look good while I'm sitting there. I don't want to be a fat mom.

I put it on hold until the summer.
And I got a modest bathing suit for the beach.

I was doing the Insanity workouts but I was not able to keep up with the program of 6 workouts a week, due to working, parenting, etc.
My world has been a little topsy turvy since the Scorp moved in, so adjusting to that, plus all the end of school crap, plus getting ready for vacation, I just couldn't do it.

In a few weeks I am not going to be working, so it will be much easier to devote time to it. I just had to be realistic, and I was really getting depressed and crabby. I was getting too obsessed and driving the Scorp nuts. C'est la vie.

I'm trying to shift my focus from being thin to being healthy and happy. I think back to all the times I have been real skinny- and they were times when I was flat out miserable and stressed. Looking at the big picture, I'm not smoking, not drinking, I am able to run a 5k, I'm probably healthier right now than I have been in 20 years, I know I am definitely happier, I'm just not as thin as I'd like to be right now but it will catch up.

I love beaches....however, I won't go in the water.

I hate pools....especially anything over 6ft.

I'm terrified of driving the car into a body of water. I will completely change my route to work in the winter time because my general path is along side the river. I will even go ALL the way to the next city to cross their bridge....because I know they are more efficient with snow/ice removal.

The only thing I can do is float on my back....if I lay real still. That would be my only saving grace in a situation where I was stuck in water that I couldn't touch the bottom.

I go in the pool but I stay in the shallow end. I am embarrassed to swim in the shallow end the way I swim, so I will just go in there to get wet and cool off and come right out. Or sometimes I go in with my son or other small child so I have an excuse to be in there and I don't feel awkward.

I will go in the water at the beach to my knees but that's it.

I can't float because I can't get relaxed enough in the water to make my body go limp like that. You would think I would be a good floater with my 34DDD. lol. should be a built in life vest.

I do not like to go on boats- I will avoid them whenever possible.

I wish you lived close to me Elle. Then I would have someone to hang out with near water. lol.

I don't do boats. I have a friend who has been trying to get me to go on a cruise with her for years and every year I come up with some lame excuse why I can't go.

I'd do a small boat, securely attached to the shore...in a river or canal....but as soon as that things moves....I'm out of there.



Yeah, people don't get it. I have a family member who owns a boat. She is always asking me to come down to stay with her in the boat with my son. It's docked but I won't do it. lol. I tell her I don't swim. She's like, "The boat is docked! It doesn't move!"

I don't understand why people go to a docked boat. lol.

I didn't read through this whole thread, so I apologize if this has already been discussed. I've just started counting calories. Has this worked for anyone?



Make sure you get the right amount. If you get too few calories, you will not burn enough and you will not lose any weight. I tried "My fitness pal" app and it did not give me enough calories. It gave me 1280 and I lost nothing. When I did the formula, I found that I need 1433 calories a day to maintain my weight, and once I bumped my caloric intake up, I started losing. Also, you are supposed to divide your food into 5 small meals a day instead of 3. Try it, it gives you a lot of energy.

Here is the formula:
Step one is to calculate your BMR with the following formula:

Women:
655 + (4.3 x weight in pounds) + (4.7 x height in inches) - (4.7 x age in years)

Men:
66 + (6.3 x weight in pounds) + (12.9 x height in inches) - (6.8 x age in years)

Please note that this formula applies only to adults.

Calculate Activity
Step two: In order to incorporate activity into your daily caloric needs, do the following calculation:

??If you are sedentary : BMR x 20 percent

??If you are lightly active: BMR x 30 percent

??If you are moderately active (You exercise most days a week.): BMR x 40 percent

??If you are very active (You exercise intensely on a daily basis or for prolonged periods.): BMR x 50 percent

??If you are extra active (You do hard labor or are in athletic training.): BMR x 60 percent

Add this number to your BMR.

The result of this formula will be the number of calories you can eat every day and maintain your current weight. In order to lose weight, you'll need to take in fewer calories than this result. My book said to take away 500 calories.
