I think I made him mad. HELP

Why would he do this? 

There is a guy that I like and I'm 50/50 if he likes me too. He holds eye contact but he doesn't talk to me. One time, I was in the hallway and just so happens that I was standing outside his door while he was in there as well. I was talking to a friend and I made her laugh and I hugged her. When she walks away and all of a sudden, he's staring very intensely like I betrayed him and his face is kinda stern looking (he naturally looks like that). Do you guys know what he could be thinking? I don't want to make him mad or jealous although I think I have by accident.  

Oh, also I don't really talk to the guy. But I want to start.

this is so weird, you never talk to him but you know the hour of his birth and the city of his birth.

Let me explain, I know his birthday because of friends and I don't know the time of his birth. I would guess since he lives in the same city that he would be born here but I could be wrong.

Yes, I did. Actually we chatted for a bit and that's when he started watching me and the stares came in. I like the guy, but I'm ot sure what his intentions are at this point.

I think baby steps is the best way to go, but he's more outgoing with others but when it comes to me he just stares. Maybe I unsettle him because he's shy around me?

Tell your friend to give him your number and to tell him "she thinks you're cute" might make it easier for him to talk to you?

UM maybe? Idk if he'll respond kindly to that. Maybe that's just me being shy though.
