That kind of sucks!!

My b-day gift is one week after Christmas. The only b-day gift I got was from my parents. I sit here and think of all the people the past year I made efforts to go out of my way and buy a gift for and nothing back from them. Zilch. Zero. Nadda.

Does this mean I get a free ride the rest of the year and I don't have to buy gifts for people?

I knew you guys are the only ones that understand.

Okay. Vent over.

Nothing from Aquaman?

The kids?

Ruh-Roh

Aquaman spent his time with me. He had just got in from work after being gone for two weeks, and was understandably tired. He spend the evening before and the day of and after my birthday. Treated me to dinner each day, but we eat out a lot. I suppose that was his gift to me. Still. A little something would have been nice, even if it was a few days late.

Kids. Nope. BFF who I just got a nice gift in December, nope. I get forgotten about. 😢

I don't blame you. You give gifts because you want to. But when nobody does it in return, it's less "tit for tat" and more "why the hell am I wasting time and energy on people who cannot show the same kindness toward me as a friend that I do them?" :/

Exactly.

I was afraid I would get reamed for appearing selfish. That's not the case at all.

Nah, I'm the same way. I really do enjoy getting friends gifts and have fun trying to find something they'll really love. But after awhile, when they can't be bothered to show any sort of consideration toward you in that aspect, you feel like your efforts are just wasted on a selfish individual.

Friends WANT to do things like that for eachother. If you have a friend that can't be bothered, wtf yo?

Yup, this is the case with my younger brother (pisces). I ve gotten him gifts, a cake ,and made dinner. But when my birthday rolls around, he doesnt get me anything, but he has no problem getting his girlfriend gifts. Well his birthday is coming up in March, he will be getting NOTHING from me. And if he asks why, im going to have a whole heck of alot to say.

That just sucks balls! 😢

People should be more mindful definitely, but it's such a pitfall for birthdays around this time of year, it gets swept away with the Xmas season!

I spoil my Cap for Xmas but I always make sure I do something really big for his Bday like a restaurant and a little gift just because EVERYBODY else forgets about him!

My family on my fathers side use to be really good about making sure i recieved gifts on both my birthday and Christmas.

Now, i can just count On my Jan1st grandma to send me something for my birthday.

Dang, i just now realize i got her something for Christmas and not her birthday. I never thought about that.

During Christmas she usually has the most gifts under the tree from family and friends. I actually dont remember if she gets anything on her birthday. I called, and she was so excited saying im the 2nd person next to her sis to tell her happy bday that day. Guess i have to be more mindful. Her bday gifts in the mail are always unexpected and the highlight of my day.

Yes, you got a free ride. At least for one year.

If you get gifts, it is good for Money circulation and economy.

If you don't get gifts, it is good for earth resources. gift=contamination.

We should establish such things to be gifts in futrue : time, honesty, consideration...

As a side note, all I got for my bday was dinner paid for by my son...I've paid all these years for him, he wanted to do something special for me, best gift in the world!

Remember, ribbons and bows, pretty paper, boxes, trinkets, cards - they mean nothing! It's what comes from the heart...

i have a very generous husband, and i'm the frugal one. his mother says you're Lucky you didn't marry a woman who has extravagant taste and spends all your money. Well, i prefer it if a man WANTS to do that, not because he has to. I would never go for a cheap man. None of my ex's were cheap, and maybe because they were leo-dominant? or at least with leo in the personal planets.

aren't capricorns known for their cheapness? lol
i Always feel guilty if my husband gives me something new and we already have it.
i'm not a Versace, Prada girl at all. But i will admit that my mother and sisters do give me their hand me downs, and so did my grandmothers when they were alive. But grandmothers gave weird gifts, like little girl dresses when youre already past eighteen. sigh.

It kinda sucks but have you thought of whether you made an effort to socialise. I think you don't. You stay at home most often. Or, you have negative friends. Or, you have friends that are just in passing. There are so many "friends" you can know. For example, the workplace, which is a tricky place.

I done that before. Got them a gift and got nothing back. Well who cares. Not everyone at work likes gifts. Some take it the wrong way. Like you're bribing them.

Expect less, you'll get more.

I'm very social, thank you very much.
