Do you think your quality of sleep is good? As in do you wake up a lot during the night, are you getting at least 8 hours a night, and is the temperature in your room comfortable? (that last one seems like a "duh" one, but it's just something to consider lol)

Also...

do you drink caffeine within a few hours of bedtime?

And typically, if you have time, exercising a few hours prior to going to sleep helps the quality of sleep a lot!
Otherwise, if you think everything checks out, try taking some Benadryl before bed 😛 One of my friends was having some sleeping issues where he had a hard time falling asleep and when he actually did sleep, he was still tired so he went to the Dr. and they just told him to try Benadryl. Just a suggestion 🙂

Actually, I use to workout maybe 2 a week close to 10pm at night and the reach of the time, it was in the morning. I did sleep better but I stopped and now I only workout in the morning. Okay, you maybe on to something.

Noo. This is something you DON'T want to do because you're basically waking up the body by doing this. You aren't tiring yourself out by exercising a few hours before bed. Exercising earlier in the day will definitely help, but when you do it so close to bed, your body is basically wound up and you delay going to bed. Generally, yes, exercise will help you sleep better, as long as it's done during the day, long before bedtime.

Question is, Cappy, what's your diet like? If you're lacking in something, it could be why your body is so tired. How long are you sleeping? Do you exercise on a regular basis, or at least are moderately active? Are you going through anything emotionally atm? Depression or anxiety?

My diet is .... well, I'm in college 🙂 So I eat what I can but I have been eating healthier over the past year. Now, for the past 2 years, I've been eating horribly and I know that but I'm trying to get my diet together.

Like now I eat more fruits -- I love apples, strawberries, blueberries and bananas. I eat my fill of protein and veggies too. I think I need more fiber maybe.

I've been searching and searching on the web on random topics about being tired out of the blue.

Seriously, I can wake, be up for like an hour and I feel like I've never went to bed.

Why?? What causes this? Its starting to get annoying because I need all the energy that I can muster in the next 2 weeks.

Have you got anything on your mind?

lol, yeah. There's this court date approaching and I've never been to court before, so I'm way nervous about that. Plus, I want to win the darn thing but I don't know what he's going to pull in front of the judge.

Cappie,

One melatonin - it's a natural supplement. Also, I agree with the diet and exercise evaluation. 8 hours of sleep is also important. If you happen to have an iphone try the app "sleep cycle" it tracks your nightly rest and you can see just how well you are resting.

Awww, no I don't have the iPhone -- there just had to be something good about that darn phone lol -- Its called melatonin? I check it out and see if I can take it.

Melatonin is produced by your body naturally. It's what your pineal gland produces when triggered by the circadian rhythm your body has. You can usually get it in 3 mg pills/caplets. It's generally pretty harmless, but you may want to look into that as well. I've tried it and really didn't notice a difference, but it works for my brother.

Yeah, I will check with my doctor first.

I still point towards having something on your mind. I get like you describe when I have something bugging me and I have no effect/control on the outcome... kinda putting your destiny in someone else's hands... sucks!

Your body needs sleep, if you don't get it at night, during the day, it will want to shut down... trying to catch up, etc...

Sorry, I have no technical fancy name for this 😛

Are you depressed?

I have thyroid and adrenal probs but all the meds don't help. I do believe I will have to join everyone and I do mean almost everyone I know and get on antidepressants....Seratonin may be the problem. I have tried this in the past but it made me comatose and I hate that....so the key is to keep working with the doctor. I can't believe I'm going to do this but after a long battle with fatigue, I am tired of being tired soooo....

Cappy - You definately want to watch this because a tired body can lead to endocrine dysfunction which leads to a host of other issues like weight gain which starts a chain cycle of other diseases. Definately good rest is essential. First of all definately examine diet. How much sugar and caffine are you ingesting? I would also recommend natural supplements like Kava, Valerian Root (amazing stuff), Melatonin, and riboflavin (I tried this year and I really like). These are great for helping to relax the nervous system.

B12 is great for energy which is usually in energy drinks. If you drink energy drinks I would stop. Those things are horrible because they are loaded with sugar. B12 is also great to take during a menstural cycle to give that extra boost of energy and ward of sadness. Don't want to take that if you are trying to sleep. I would recommend vitamin B6 if you are going to use the B vitamins because it helps calm down the nervous system. You could take B12's if you need that extra umpf to get going in the day. Valerian root has been used for centuries and some of my clients use it for sleep and swear by it.

I went to a educational workshop on nutrition and one of the instructors told us if you have a hard time waking up it is an indication of endocrine dysfunction. So it is essential to make sure you get your sleep in order. You don't notice it so much in your twenties but if you are in your 30's and older you will begin to see the effects. There have been studies that not getting enough sleep can lead to weight gain.

I hope that helps .....get some good quality rest girl!!

BTW - I thin the recommendation for excercise, yoga, and meditation are also excellent suggestions!! I actually perform better and sleep better when I excericse at night as well. I have heard the controversy of excercise in the night or morning, and I believe it is based on the individual. So if it worked for you, get back to excercising.

I'm going thru the same thing....for about three years now.

It's A: your hormones are unbalanced B: your cortisol is jacked up or C: thyroid and adrenal problems which is part of cortisol......Or so many other things.

If it's your thyroid....good luck. I've not been better but worse since they put me on this. If it's cortisol....then they will put you on cortef which is hydrocortisone which is steroids.......which is whats in your body to survive and to cope. You can't live without it. If you take the cortef it will bring you back to life but it's so bad for you in the long run. So it's only for temp and hopefully you will take additional adrenal supports meds in addition so you can wing yourself off one day.

Hormonal imbalance is a part of all the above. Get it checked and then you can figure out what's going on. I was SO full of energy at your age so I'm sorry your feeling this way now. Get to the problem now cause it will only get much much worse. I would suggest and this is just my opinion, to not get on thyroid meds or anything as it's messed me up and your body will need it. Try anti-depressants and other supportive natural stuff first.....You may have to keep trying different kinds to find what you need. Just playing with hormones (the above) is so frustrating...expensive and leads to more probs. Trust me....I know.

I will add......they tried to put me on anti-depressants twice and I would stop after a month because of the coma like feeling.......forget that.

It's something I deeply regret. I could have stayed with it until I found something that worked but didn't like meds and didn't want to cop out....so I thought. Everyone I know is on it and happy........but I'm not. I kept refusing this chemical solution for other crap and now I'm really messed up on hormones. Try the simple stuff first. If you go the Dr's route, you will be just another client, another bill, money for pharm. Don't get on all kinds of meds because one solution will cause another problem....If I sound upset its because I am. These meds have taken away my life and energy. Dr's will look at me like, your sitting up so you look fine to me. They don't care about your quality of life so you better.

You have thyroid problems too?

Well, small world 🙂 Yes, I was sick for a while with some very bad issues stemming from an over-active thyroid condition. That was the pits ...
