dxpnet Gold Membership ?

A fee paying subscription, calling it dxpnet Gold for example, for the few members who want/willing to pay for more services while in this website.

And the paying subscribers/members get extra perks, for example getting info on who's checking your profile. I realised I am willing to pay to find out who are these people who keep checking my profile; and thats how I came up with the idea. I'm pretty sure their more potential perks, but that's the only one I can think of right now.

I don't know what the perks are, and enabling tracking on my profile would drive me nuts personally. But people spend their money on stupid shit every day. *shrug*

@ Wynter: It's not my dog; and I want to know who are the thousands who keep checking my profile. Dxpnet is a for profit organisation (apparently), not sure why it's offensive to offer more functionality to members for a price; after all adding functionality has a cost.

That's the whole point.

I think this website has accountability all wrong. People should either have no "profile view count" or be able to know exactly who viewed their profile, at least recently visitors.

The other thing that gets me is the IP address checker, its entirely useless. Giving away people's IP addresses is dangerous and invades people's general privacy. But the current set up doesn't actually tell you anything. Instead of telling us that AOL protects people's privacy, I would rather the website told us the general geographic location of the poster. At least that way you can pin point the banned users without disclosing information that isn't available to the general public.

OR you the website can go the other way and provide actual privacy controls of not providing IP address related functionality in the first place.

People should have either ultimate control or no control of their profile related information and posting content, this current set up is frustrating and unhealthy.

Why is everyone so defensive ?

@squarethecircle: I personally had issues with stalkers in this website. Stalkers who were banned due to their activity in this website. Stalkers who simply created a new identity and just rejoined the DXP community. People's "browsing privacy" isn't more important that your own privacy, thought that was basic.

And as I said, this website really needs to either increase or eliminate accountability. This current set up is meaningless.

@spica: I understand that this is a for profit; revenue generating organisation. If people are willing to pay to find out who's visiting their profile; and others are willing to protect their privacy, I think duncan would be out of his mind to not charge both sides a fee for them to get the functionality that they asked for.

The geographic locator/indicator is as necessary as the IP checker; and both of them can be useless. The idea is that if you're going to offer information, it should be meaningful information; and the current IP thing is entirely useless.

Someone actually needs to support this website!! instead of forcing it to be a fee paying website, duncan should offer additional fee based functionality instead; and if users are willing to pay for that extra functionality, great!

Think of it, if dxpnet wasn't so dependant on advertising revenue, then it wouldn't be so obsessed about having a PG rating, then the website might actually have a sex board one day. Fee's = support = chance for innovation and change.

I wouldn't want to confront them, but at least that's one more option that isn't available to me now.

I'm finding it interesting that the main opposition to the idea is that associating functionality with a fee. I don't have a problem with that, not because I can afford it, but because I think its perfectly reasonable that the costs associated with innovation, functionality and change to fall on the people who will actually benefit from such change.

If Duncan wants to offer functionality for free, great, he's a generous person. If he wants to offer it for a charge, then that's fair too.

The sex board was just an example of how the current model is limiting the potential of this website. It's not a request, not yet any way.

I either want much more information, or none what so ever. More control of my profile and posting content, or none.
