are the same IP numbers are always the same people who respond to messages. if so, people will figure that person out, without having to register. why is that?
IP numbers

Depending on your ISP, your IP address can change everytime you log on. Or it can stay the same everytime you log on. I think there are more people that have dynamic IP addresses (ones that change everytime) than not.
It's also easier for people to know who people are by their username than their IP address, even if it is the same everytime.
Here's a question, why haven't you registered yet? 🙂

🙂 I don't know. Isn't it a air of mystery to be anonymous. You can portray or be whoever you want. It's fun
I work for a very large ISP and I am a network engineer:
depending on the type of internet connection and your isp, you ip address can last for hours or days.
If you dial up to the internet then your ip changes 99% of the time
If you use a cable modem it tends to stay the same.
What most people dont realize about posting by IP address is that anyone on a corporate network behind a firewall is usually posting the ip address of the outside connection port of that firewall, so more than one perons on that network posting on here will show the same IP.
Anonymity is a joy, but sometimes people will strike back at those who try to be anonymous and end up hurting someone elses feelings.
I think DXP should make it where you have to login to post.

i'm planning on making it login-only (to post) by the end of the month, just kind of giving some warning before i do so.
