In case you haven't noticed, we made several updates to the message board pages this weekend. We rolled out the changes in two phases: flagging/hiding updates on Saturday and layout changes on Sunday.

If the pages look really strange to you, you might need to clear out your browser cache. Or try hitting ctrl+f5 to get the latest page.

Here's a list of things we updated:
1. lowered the amount of flagging by users it takes to remove a topic.
2. if a user flags a topic they created, it is automatically removed.
3. added communication around the process, so users know why a topic disappeared
4. added ability for users to hide/show their own message posts
5. added ability to preview topics before they are created
6. added help link to bottom of all message board pages
7. increased the number of pages that show up for a topic
8. updated the layout and look of the pages

We will be actively monitoring the flagging process for the next several months to see how it is working out.

We found a few minor bugs already with our changes and will be fixing them in the next several days.

Let us know what you think.

Actually, the "How would you make this site better" forum is solely here for complaints, suggestions, letting us know about site problems, and the occasional praise.

We want to hear from our users about what they like and don't like about this website. We may not be able to accommodate every request, but we still like hearing from the website user.

We feel constructive criticism and dialog is better than a take it or leave it approach any day.

Yes I agree with notso, that the avatars or mini-pics representing each user which are at the margin beside each user's message is superfluous and actually detracts from what is being said as opposed to enhancing it.

This is a message board and always will be however many advances are made to its layout and features. Therefore I don't see the point in distracting from the overriding feature - ie sharing viewpoints in the form of posts or messages - by placing little pictures and images alongside the text. I thought this stuff was fine being reserved for users' profiles.

PLEEEEEAAAASSSE!!!! MAKE THE PRINT BIGGER!!! I'm utterly straining to see and don't want to change the font size on my browser b/c then everything else is way too big.

Guys, the forum print is WAY TOO SMALL!! So hard on the eyes and a terrible inconvenience!!

And, obviously, all the wonderful new options don't work with the e-mail either.

One word in browser's technologies and world nothing else matters??.

OPERA?

Stingsattached: you click on the Hide option which is just above the post that you wish to hide. I don't think it could be simpler or more self-explanatory!

I find that people who claim to have very high standards in terms of their ideas on visual layout, clever features, endless demands and requests about how things should be altered to their liking, are the very ones who are the least able to comprehend how certain ideas cannot work in practice. Like the edit function for example. This would create a mess if it were implemented as if we could all go in in hindsight and amend our posts to say something perhaps in complete contradiction of what we said intially so the thread of the conversation could become just one long unintelligible ramble.

Again I would like to ask the DXP moderator not alter the layout users' posts too radically from how they have been up to now. As I said before, the point of a message board is primarily the message so all other visual gadgets should be kept to a minimum.
