When my fiance and I argue (both libra), or if he brings up certain topics I get really defensive and start saying things I dont mean, sometimes mean and hurtful things, I hate that I do this but I get so mad I just cant help myself. I am wondering if its normal or if its just me?

Libras treat those they supposedly love the worst.

They expect to be forgiven just because they see it as a right to be.

This is a reflection of their self-love; they inflict wounds on those who'd love them the most. And be kindest to those who're undeserving.

Libras are tactful only to friends or acquaintances. If you're close, you can bet that its more of an emotional communication, and there's nothing tactful about emotional communications.

But hurtful words can never be taken back; they pile up over time and can destroy something of value. Best is to be aware and prevent/ minimize anything that you'd regret later.

No, I would say that it may possibly be a Libra female thing...I have found that I will say the most hurtful things and even sometimes hit below the belt!!! It's like I'm sooo upset that I want to project the venom onto that person....And I always really regret it when I've calmed down and re-hash the stupid things I've said...

And as Spica says, hurtful words can not be taken back...no matter how remorseful you feel later and how much you apologise it is too late!! The best I've come up with to stop myself is the count to ten theory and get out of the room...still it's something that has to be mastered as I know I can feel my blood boiling and it's so hard to just stop....

if i'm arguing with someone i've got passionate feelings for, i can be downright vicious. i try not to let things get to that point because you can't unring a bell. i've lost somebody i loved because i let myself say something i shouldn't have. i mean, it was true and i meant it, but i should've have said it.

I have to agree with both Spica and curious visitor....when I'm 'unbalanced' I treat those I love pretty bad; and when someone I love/care about pisses me off well...they get what they ask for. Unfortunately, growing up in a household with a parent who is a psychologist has enabled me to recognize the underlying cause of most people's behavior; so in an argument I've been known to take the unknown/underlying psychological issues and 'bring them to light' so to speak. This is probably why a lot of people no longer argue with me......

Thanks for all the advice ladies, I appreciate it. You are right mean things can never be taken back. I guess through toiling over and over this on my own I figured out that I really need to pay attention to the words that I choose and its not what you say its how you say it. 😉

Thanks again and sorry it takes me so long to respond, I dont get on dxp regularly.

Alot of the Libras I know are known for starting arguements just for the sake of seeing how the other person will react. And the crazy this, half of the time (and as long as the arguments don't keep continuing for long periods of time) Libras don't consider these verbal spats as trouble and/or blows to the relationship like others might. They even sometimes get a kick out of getting a rise from the other person. It's also very common for a Libra who is very insecure to start an argument AND keep going on & on & on just for the sake of wanting to see how bad their partner will fight for them. It stems from the emotional battles going on within that Libra's head. Plus, Libras who are unhappy or very insecure emotionally will often purposely say things out of character to their partners just to see how their partner will react. They often don't realize the hurt, pain & scars that can be left until the aftermath, in which once that happens, they don't really feel the brunt of what they've said/done until their partners use that against them & leave them for it. Oh lord, if that happens, Librans will lose it!

Plus, Libras often carry around so much emotional turmoil before they get into serious commitments, so it's not uncommon for them to FINALLy release all of their insecurities & baggage onto their partners once the commitment has been established.
