You know, how much would it hurt if people just kept the relationship sex-free until something permanent is established, by BOTH parties?

Seriously.

Is it so difficult to abstain until you are in a relationship with a real commitment?

Let's have a look at the drawbacks:

First and foremost, STD's. Your health is all you have. This comes before happiness and money.

Secondly, self-respect. Your body is your temple. Why go around exposing it here and there and giving someone a free show just because they buy you dinner and say you're cute or something just as pathetic along those lines. How easy is easy?

Thirdly, having sex too soon places both parties in a posion of commitment that neither are ready for. Nooooo, don't tell me about casual sex because after a while one person starts to want more.

and Finally, waiting is soooo much damn BETTER! It's amazing to want to be with someone for a looong time and then finally getting together. You'll be at the point of total comfort whereas you are more open to experiment or ask for certain things, plus, you're more comfortable with your body.

I don't mean to preach, but YES I do mean to preach.

Would it hurt to wait?

Yep, too bad that so many people view sex as just recreation. I read an article in a magazine once. It was about a girl who was worried about letting her boyfriend see her without make-up. She has sex with him and that's OK, but the make-up issue is a big deal...
