They say that the lizards, rodents, etc that your cat brings to the

doorstep are Gifts.

Is this true?

If so ... my cat loves me. 😐

She had a massive lizard in her mouth earlier today, but when I saw her I

guess it startled her... she dropped it, and it ran off.

Just went back outside, and now there is a small snake, belly up by

My Chair.

Again 😐

Just had her treated with anti-venom (to the tune of almost $ 1000) for a

snakebite to her paw.

What has your cat brought to the doorstep?

I'm not alone!

LoL

@imp

When I lived 'in town' my cat would kill rats and bring them to the back steps.

One time, I caught her laying on her back throwing the rat in the air trying

to get him to "play" again. (ugh)

And I didn't have a doggie door, but I let her in once and damned if she didn't

have a mouse with her.

The bf had to take care of it... I was (and still am) useless in that department. πŸ˜„

@Cheeky, you're far braver than I am !

My youngest cat (yet strangely the most senior - all my neighbours call him King) had this strange ritual for a while where he'd bring home a dead bird, usually pigeons, and pluck out all the feathers from it until there were feathers laying around the corpse in a strange artistic pattern waiting for me when I got home or out of bed. It was actually very elaborate artwork.

Only your cat, tizi.... it's all in the delivery. πŸ™‚

My cats are sick creatures. They bring in frogs and field mice and torment them. They play catch and release until it stops trying to run away, then they leave it where ever. I started feeding one of them lasagna hoping he'd tire of bringing critters inside.

Srsly?

I think you may remember this:

Why are cats the pet of choice for most women?

They chose me.

I had the door open one day because the temp dropped and it was soo nice--

Walked in the living room, and there was a little kitten sitting on my couch... srsly. πŸ˜„

She stayed with the bf when I left, and I have two of her kittens.

Well, my mom has one and I have another... the one who brought the snake to the door.

My other cat-- his mom wandered to the door, and naturally got knocked up-- so my

mom kept her and one of her kittens and had her fixed.

I kept the other one... he was the mascot for Team Sexxay, if anyone recalls?

funny enough i read an article about this very matter on FB the other day.

according to the article it's not a gift per se - your cat wants to teach you hunting skills so you can learn to survive.

the mother cat will bring first dead animals to the "nest"? then proceed to bring back animals who are quite shaken up but not dead so the kittens can do the kill and play around with the prey. eventually when the kittens are old enough they are taken with to hunt.

are they not the cutest animals? πŸ™‚

I hunt just fine at the grocery store, and I've kept her in Friskies for years now.

If that cat brings me something live, we're going to have a problem.

And yes, they are the cutest animals. πŸ˜„

It always amuses me that women get pegged for owning cats as well as being "crazy cat lady" when it comes to owning them.

I heard about a survey, or study, or whatever done recently that said dog owners were most likely to get all attached and weird in dating, whereas people who owned cats tended to be more independent.

While I only have cats atm, I don't consider myself a "cat person". I'm more like an "animal person." Just have no room/yard for a dog right now.

That said, it always amuses me when it's cat people vs dog people.

Cat people are always pegged as crazy and strange, while dog people are generally accepted as "normal." Yet I don't see cat owners dragging their cats out around with them shopping, taking them to lunch at places with a patio, or buying strollers and clothes for them. I've also noticed that people who are not "cat people" don't like the fact that cats are independent and don't rely on them. It seems to me that those who are self proclaimed "dog people" and dislike cats may have more emotional hang ups than those who call themselves "cat people." If they're going to have a pet, that they want it to make them feel squishy inside by relying on them for everything- eating, going out for walks, bathing, etc. Talk about a fucked up ego. :/

Cats do the most amusing things. They all look and feel superior but they are funny when they don't even mean it. And I agree, they are independent. And I am lazy.

The best is when they do something foolish, like fall out of a window, or off the couch/bed and then walk away with a "I meant to do that" attitude.

Your cat should be named Batcat. Look at that mask. Haha

Turning 3 years old. Still young, that grumpy cat. Always running around late at night.

Haha I knooow. We've been saying that since she was born- her and her little face mask.

Aww to both of them.

This is the snake-handler about 2 seconds after I started playing something on youtube that

she clearly did NOT approve of... too loud maybe? πŸ˜›

Haha. Have you played other cats meowing on youtube to see what she does? My current ones don't care, but my fur baby used to get so funny about it. She'd look for the sound by climbing on the desk and checking out the speakers. When she couldn't figure it out, she'd either come love on me because she thought I was in distress, or would steal this pen I had with feathers on the end and run off with it, haha.

Aw, I miss my bub. 😒
