No advice really. I think we all come here to learn about others, but if you've been here long enough, you should be exploring yourself.
ie, I never knew how relevant astrology was until I explored my chart and by virtue of examining myself, it's easier to understand/read others.

Ok, but I would like to explore myself and my placements further..... I just don't really know how. For instance, I'm ALL fire and air. I'd like to explore that further. I truly don't know what houses are.....
When I first came through here I didn't even know what a chart looked like or the importance of anything more than the sun sign.... So I guess I have learned, but how can I find more? Got any good book or websites recommendations to learn from?

Cafeastrology is amazing for staters. Most ppl gett heir chart, read the brief synopsis and quit there. Unfortunately, that doesn't tell you shit.
ie, if it says you have Sun Conjunct Mercury, google it. Actually google aspects of your chart beyond your sun sign.
Cafeastro also tells you what house your planets are in. So for example if it says Sun in House I, google, sun in the first house.
It takes time but all the info is out there and for me, I'd rather learn by my own hand than have someone interpret for me.

Like many others, when I came to this site, I sought information and clarity on astrology. I also wanted to know what made the assholes in my life tick so that I could either bend them to my will or ensure that they "die miserably."
In spite of the turmoil that brought me here, astrology has always been an interest and prior to this site, I'd never had a venue in which I could ask questions or share thoughts with others on this topic.
Now where I was initially excited to be amongst my astro-peers, a year or so later, I am thoroughly convinced that the majority of you are morons.
How many of you, especially those who have been on this site 2+ years, even know what a House placement is? How many of you look at your charts and think, "Ooooh, look at all the purty colors?" What a bunch of worthless dipshits and yet, I'm the offensive one? Your ignorance fucking offends me...call it even.
Far too many of you spend far too much time trying to "take down" person x instead of remembering what brought you here in the first place. In the last month, you've posted nothing regarding signs, nothing regarding astrology, nothing regarding personal insight or perspective, but hey, you view yourself to be "positive."
Instead of expanding your astrological knowledge, you dig into the bowels of other's personal lives in hopes that you will find a name, a picture, a deed by which you can "reveal them for who they truly are."

i don't value people online more. i simply did not know people in RL who knew more than i did. most people only know their sun signs and most are comfortable with that. however, if you join an astro site or came here initially for an astrological perspective, it implies that you want to know more than the average juan does it not?

But while I do believe in the fundamentals of it, how far that belief actually goes is what I struggle with. Like, how much rings true just because its supposed to? That sort of thing.

well personally, i wasn't all gung-ho for it myself...until i did my chart. before, it was just interesting. it related to me but it didn't. when i did my chart and started examining it in-depth, much of what i gleaned was undeniable. it wasn't as if i was looking for correlations, it's just that the correlations were there...for me anyway.
i think if those who care to bother actually look deeper into their charts, they'd be surprised...especially if your chart is heavily aspected in areas.
i mean, who'd a thunk that i'd have a heavy pisces influence, but if ya knew me, you'd undastand how not shocking that truly is.
