We have like 7 garbage bins, 2 for white and colored glass, 3 for regular garbage, 2 for paper and cardboard and I think 2 for all kind of plastics, wood and some other stuff. We have to pay for it.

Recycling is fun! 🙂

Really? Where in Germany do you live, usually household waste/recycling is collected for free. You get charged for the supermarket bottles but then it gets refunded when returned.

I live in the big Hauptstadt. I think it's part of our rental contracts if I am not mistaken. I haven't read it for years but I believe there is a section about it. You are right about the bottles.

Ok, I haven’t seen it in any of the complexes with additional charges. I guess it’s dependent on what state you live in.

I mean someone has to pay for the garbage fees and usually the landlords spread the costs among the tenants. They are part of the additional costst in the rental contracts. You live here too?

No, I don’t live there but it’s practically my second home... I do have the local travelling photo card for Hamburg. Most of my friends either live in the UK and somewhere in Germany.

Have travelled extensively and stayed in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Passau, Halle, Kiel and Sylt but never seen any of my friends separate the recycling like you do and they don’t pay additional charges.

That’s why I was curious what region you live in 😊

Nice. 🙂 Passau is also a great city but I haven't been there in a long time. I will probably go to Sylt by the end of the year.

I honestly have no clue if its different in other regions but it would surprise me if that were the case. The recycling itself is basically my job, I have to make sure to throw my garbage in the right cans but we still get charged for it by our contracts. I need to read my contract again. ^^

It probably is different in regions.

My fave is Sylt 😍 and Passau, great thing about Passau is the close proximity to Austria.

Did you ever go to that pancake place up on that hill across the border into Austria? Overlooking the view into Passau how picturesque is it 🤩

I am not sure but we walked around whole city and saw many sights. We came from the "Bayrisch Wald" and it was around summer time. What I liked about the city was its southern european flair, one would think you were somewhere in Italy. 😉

Unless it's making me money in some way no. I recycle cans and other metals though. I also recycle cellphones and electronics, again assuming I make profit from it.

Tbh now that I think about it I might start recycling just for natures sake. I kind of regret the damage humans including myself do to the earth in general.

This is one of those situations where my secret unknown small town doesn't have a recycling system, or at least one I know about. So I really have no idea how to even recycle, as stupid as that sounds.
