I was watching Riverdale last night (yep know the show is trashy, but am a huge fan of Madchen Amick who was in Twin Peaks and watch for her mainly.

Anyway I forgot they had their annual craptastic musical episode last night and stopped watching.

I was reminded of this article I saw and never felt so seen - https://entertainment.ie/cinema/movie-news/opinion-time-why-i-hate-musicals-with-a-passion-242127/

I literally avoid hanging out on movie nights with friends pre-corona if it is a musical. And dread that if I ever get serious with someone again that they are gonna be a musical fan and I will be forced to endure.

Unless its the South Park Movie or Pink Floyds The Wall, I have just always disdained musicals. Anyone else here dead inside besides me?

She's the reason I became obsessed with that particular remix of "Do You Love Me". When I found the full 6-minute version years later I danced to it like I was being electrocuted.

And just to make this astrologically relevant, here's her stuff

Sun 20°24' Sagittarius

Moon 19°51' Gemini

Mercury 10°59' Capricorn

Venus 12°23' Scorpio

Mars 3°54' Scorpio

Jupiter 23°45' Scorpio

Saturn 16°50' Я Taurus

Uranus 12°57' Libra

Neptune 1°21' Sagittarius

Pluto 29°35' Virgo

Chiron 5°53' Я Aries

Ceres 23°36' Я Aries

Pallas 1°35' Pisces

Juno 16°17' Я Taurus

Vesta 28°16' Scorpio

Node 25°50' Я Aquarius

Lilith 25°48' Я Virgo

I know. This show was solid in Season 1 but after that it has been a huge pile of suck

Part of the problem is the storylines are just lame and the other part is the musical numbers

I actually enjoyed watching the Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina till season 3. And of course there was more than 1 musical number

I was thinking what is the producers obsession with having to make every single show he supervises into a musical? Then I found out he used to work on Glee and did the Spider-man broadway musical. Everything made sense from that point on.

At least with Katy Keene, I can see why he does it there since that has to do with the entertainment industry in NYC

That show I also only endure because of Katherine LaNasa that plays Gloria. I love her acting and she kills it in that role. But the show sucks when she isnt on otherwise

I feel with watching shows like Brooklyn Nine Nine, Westworld, Mr Mercedes, and Home Before Dark, despite some past and current flaws with them, I am reminded of what good writing is for tv

I really need to stick to non-network shows because 98 percent of network ones are horrible. Aint gonna lie though I do watch the reboots of Magnum Pi and Macgyver as guilty pleasures. They are not good, but they are at least enjoyable to watch

@Ladyneptune - I dont hate Rocky Horror but I dont love it either. Its easy to sit through at least for me.

At this point I view it as a trainwreck in motion I know its heading for ultimate doom, yet I cant look away.

I think I may cut it off though after the graduation at end of season. I can only imagine the sheer level of awful the show will reach next season when they do a five year time jump. And I cant hang with Archie doing a musical number while waiting to apply for unemployment

So that is about the time for me to get off the show. I usually reserve Wednesday nights for watching Legends of Tomorrow anyways since I am too busy to watch mon or tuesday

But they dont come back till end of april 😢 Might watch Fleabag but I am not a huge fan of british humor except for Ricky Gervais version of The Office.

What's worse is when artists I admire let their songs be used as the basis for a musical story.

Bob Dylan, Bowie before he died let them.

I guess I cant fault them given that royalties dried up in the past 10 years due to streaming.

My favorite reaction is from Dave Grohl. Not a huge Foo Fighters fan but he is a hero to me forever for saying this - https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-news/dave-grohl-blasts-glee-creator-ryan-murphy-78168/

Favorite quote - It’s every band’s right, you shouldn’t have to do f----g Glee,” Grohl, 42, told The Hollywood Reporter. “Dude, maybe not everyone loves Glee. Me included. I watched 10 minutes and it wasn’t my thing.”

“The guy who created Glee is so offended that we’re not, like, begging to be on his fucking show,” said Grohl. “F--- that guy for thinking anybody and everybody should want to do Glee.”

I love having a voice of sanity in these musical obsessed times 🙂

LMAO I dont think I could even watch that for a bad movie night.

BTW I had my version of a OK BOOMER moment last night when talking to a girl in her mid-20's

She's a hipster type so I assumed she knew who Fiona Apple was. Also just because her song was used in that Jennifer Lopez film Hustlers. I asked if she was excited for the new album that arrived today like I was.

She then asked me who she was. That was the first moment in a while I felt my 39 year old age.

But I gave her some songs by Fiona to check out as Im sure she would dig her.

Im really good at keeping up on new music but I will never mention a 90's artist again around people in their 20's Yikes..

Really? Even though I wouldnt expect them to be really familiar with her music, I thought at least 30 somethings would recognize the name.

Ok I am definately eliminating 90's references in conversations with younger people. But if someone that is a millenial doesnt know The White Stripes or Jack White, they are the ones that will be looking foolish.

They came out in the 2000's and while they may not be super familiar with the music beyond Seven Nation Army they should at least recognize the name or that song since it is played everywhere

Yeah when I lived in West Hollywood and knew some actors, it was open knowledge from them he was casting couching actresses during Buffy and Angel.

Dont know about now. I laughed my ass off when I saw blind items show up online about him that confirmed what the actors told me

If you exploit someone, you're dead to me. Ironically his brother Jed is a good guy as well as his wife Maurissa They were the main producers of Dollhouse and Agents of Shield.

Him being a metoo person kinda ruins the first 2 Avengers films for me, but I try to pretend hes not there when watching since Kevin Feige had creative control for the most part

BTW am I the only one that thought the Russo Brothers handled the avengers and other marvel films better than Whedon?
