Okay, so this does have to do with the genitals, bleeding, and just sheer abnormality. I thought about putting this in the health section, but I kind of want an answer now before this puts me in an anxious panic attack.

1) I'm on birth control. I take it regularly about 95% of the time.
2) My last pap smear came out irregular like the last one, and I was told I should go get a colposcopy just to get some tests done.
3) I had some breakthrough bleeding before my last period. I had my period which ended five days ago.
5) When using the bathroom, I noticed that I was bleeding again. It was bright red and had also leaked into my urine.

I'm not sure what this is. There is some small weird feeling or tiny discomfort in my pelvic area, but I'm not sure if i'm just psyching myself out or if its really there. My best friend might think its dysfunctional uterine bleeding, but I still have no idea. I'm going to go to student health tomorrow, but I just want some feedback for anyone who has expertise in this area.

If it's not a massive amount you should be fine.

Just be honest with the people at the health clinic. Ask questions and DON'T act like it's not a big deal if you're worried about it.

THIS IS IMPORTANT. I had a gynecologist tell me to 'take a Midol and suck it up' if I decided against a laproscopy to confirm endometriosis (they can only legally document it once they cut you open even when they medically know it is there). Same guy who said antibiotics effecting birth control was a myth.

It is normal for pain to manifest from stress. Bright red blood is less deep which is a good sign of 1. fresh wound 2. not too internal (like major organs). Also - how long have you been on birth control and are you taking it around the same time every day? Any changes with the frequency of going to the restroom? Has your sex life changed in any way? Including if your sexual partners have slept with others.

Thanks guys. It was really bizarre. After it happened, I went to the bathroom again and there was no blood. It's like I hadnt even happened. I am taking my birth control at the same time. About a mont or two ago I switched the time to two hours later because I couldn't take it as early as I used to. I have been on birth control for a long time now. In between my period ending and this happening, I was sexually active. I also started a new pack.

Sartori, I will check out the site. If I can make it to student health today, I will let you know what is going on.

Candeh, on occasion it is not abnormal to have some spotting btwn periods (or even miss a period). But, to be on the safe side be sure to get checked for STDs, certain STDs can cause bleeding btwn periods without any other obvious symptoms. Make sure that you ask for an HPV test as well given that you have had a couple of abnormal paps, this is not typically a standard test when checking for STDs (it's not likely to cause bleeding btwn periods, but have all basis covered while they're 'in there').

TMI...Sheeeesh.

who cares...she is looking for help and she'll get it

And? Fantastic, fabulous, great, awesome. IT'S STILL TMI.

And maybe it is TMI. Maybe YOU wouldn't share. BUT, who better to talk to than us? We're not going to sugar coat it and MOST of us are not going to judge. We will give her advice based on our knowledge/experiences and she is still able to keep her personal life personal in her RL. In addition, the post may be beneficial for others who may be concerned but too afraid to ask or seek medical help; it may just give them the encouragement they need just knowing that they are not alone. We all can make a difference!

Also, be sure to keep your food and diet into mind.

This may sound insanely unrelated but if you have soy intake, there are studies trying to rule out or prove that soy is basically a synthetic hormone in your body (estrogen) and 1. blocks efficiency of nutrients and actual absorption 2. can cause birth control to become less effective and 3. it is a blood coagulant.

When I went to soy milk as an alternative to dairy, my endometriosis became worse and I felt unstable. I cut out soy and haven't had much since besides trace amounts in food, assuming. Since then my endometriosis has been under control when it felt like a knife being turned clockwise at any given moment of any day.

Look to see if anything could be off with your regular nutrients too - iron and calcium. Also, change in weight effects your cycle too.

And on my less possibly awkward note.. check your soaps. Unscented, undyed and chemical free Johnson's body wash for kids is cheap and best for your waist down for bathing. Unless you like putting peppermint scrub on your toes 😛

@satori
I'm definitely saving that website heh, thanks for the resource!

@peanutbutter & lildol
It's always really good to see any type of feedback from people on these topics. It's hard to get any type of unfiltered experience from most.

@dom
brownie epic points 😛

I went to the clinic and she talked me through some things to calm me down and that it may just be breakthrough again. She told me to just continue as I was doing but to come back in case I was having anymore pelvic pain and whatnot.

I had a lot of things run through my head at the moment; like being pregnant (slim chance, but it's possible), or a cyst or something.

Everything seems fine now, but I know that I still have to go back for a colposcopy at some point.

I more have training out in the field / emergency setting from my Firefighter / EMT stuff.
I'm not an expert on female physiology so by all means take heed to what the other ladies in the thread had told you.

Hows your blood pressure? Vaginal Bleeding can be a result from hypotension (Translation: Blood pressure dropping below 90) outside of a pregnancy setting.

It may also be a symptom of an infection of some sort down there.

Bottom line, if you're really concerned, go see a physician.

Ah sorry Candy! I didn't see this before I wrote my first response.
I'm really glad for you.

Her advice sounds perfect and if something turns up that can be considered acute, get it checked out.

@RT

It just upset me, that's all. You're right, you do have the right to say that and obviously you dont have to care. But I was truly terrified and had no one to turn to for help at like 1am. I was feeling vulnerable and was panicking, your post felt like an attack. That's all. I'm sorry. But at the same time I just wanted respect and at least a little help before I did something.

Not sure about my blood pressure. She didn't tsar it at the clinic. All I know is that I have been under a lot if mental stress for the past two weeks, so that could have caused hormonal changes.

Absolutely blood pressure can Candeh .... I've not had a period for about 4 years now **does cartwheels** however, I also have high blood pressure .. when I eat too much salt or miss taking my pills - and blood pressure goes up, I spot.

The spotting is normal for any woman .. even one like me who has stopped cycling. I mean I have ZERO eggs left, and still spot if my blood pressure is fucked up ~ figure that one out.

I am more concerned about blood being in your urine ... that raises all kinds of flags in my mind.
