I’ve never received a card for Mothers Day… other than a friend who knew no one would do anything.
So not BS, it’s for the kiddos to give back and doesn’t have to be fancy.

No card? That’s mean 🥹
No my ex didn’t do it, kids don’t do it unless they make something specifically at school.
It’s always been kinda sucky tbh.click to expand

And you’ve a few kids?
Are they all really young?
Many kids and ages vary from 7-16 now. It is what it is…click to expand

Very selfish of them
When our lad was at school they’d make cards. Don’t they do that there?
Not really… maybe younger grades do something.
Just not something I’ve had received much of. It’s just not our norm.click to expand

Not bullshit.
You know sometimes we take things for granted or just slips our mind. Life can get hectic.
Whatever the reason like all holidays, it's a reminder to recognize and appreciate.
Imo it's one of the few legit holidays. Raising and caring for little humans is a big deal!

Idk. On a corporate level probably. Though the flower baskets every year make my mom extremely happy, so that's all that really matters to me. I don't think mothers day should be people slitting their wrists to make up for all the things women go though. It's to celebrate your mother. I mean if you have a terrible relationship with yours I apologize, and don't mean to offend anyone.

I'm speaking for myself here. To me It's bullshit.
But if your mom isn't a cunt and was somewhat decent then please show some love and appreciation.

Is it bullshit? Does it give too, little too late?
Does my card say, thank you so much for taking on all of society’s pressure to be responsible for meeting all the needs of the living beings in your household?
And in that card is there a solo reservation to a 4+ star hotel in San Francisco, tickets an art museum and a concert, gift certificates to restaurants listed on a cities best guides with reservations? And a personalized itinerary with all my favorite interest considered?
Because if its anything less than that, I'm just not in the mood to want it.
I can’t afford all that. 😭 So I get her flowers. 😊click to expand

My kids make it a what I want day & have also made it a special day. They are still doing that in their 20’s. So for me it warms my heart ❤️
When they had no money my youngest used a ton of yellow paper and posted it all over the apartment saying I love you mommy on every one .. lol she was 10 and I had left her dad a few months before so she wanted to make sure she did something to make me feel special.
Not bullshit in my view.

Gawd ever since you acquired a family you're so disillusioned

Better send your kids to private school if you want all that.

I don't think that trip is that expensive actually, I'd pay for it myself, if I didn't have to priorities planning and prepping for our beach trip next weekend.
Not only did I have to stalk the state park sites for weeks to get us a camp ground. I have to do all the extra house work and task, this weekend because we aren't here next weekend. I have to plan all the meals and buy all the food, then prep all the food before hand.
because our camper van is in the shop and if we get it back it will be at the last min. so i have to prep and pack all of our camping gear for two different types of trips. this is annoying we really should had it back already, but I let someone else run point on that. this pisses me off because I think we are going to lose a day because of this.
Research and planning all of the activities and excursions, taking into account everyone's preferences.
and after all of that, I will likely be the one to load the vehicle, definitely the van, but even if its the truck I'll end up taking that over before he has a mental breakdown figuring out how to make everything fit.
But my family just has to show the fuck up!
which is the whole point of the thread, all of our time, energy and attention goes into our families. and so little is poured back into us, I'm literally just asking for that same time, energy and attention back, and its controversial.
This is why I'm so often criticizing our culture and capitalism. I'm pretty sure I tried to start a cult on here at least once, before I ever acquired my family. But what definitely don't need some former fuckboy who ate too many red pills to tell me how i should feel about anything.click to expand
