I want to post a thread about this. I will narrate my day-to-day activities and possibly earn money from writing stuff like this.

Anybody interested?
My dad was a lawyer. Passed away when I was 8 so I’d be interested to know what a day in the life of a lawyer is like. 🙂

it's challenging. you're basically paid to argue, speak up, write and dress up. in the courtroom, you're like an actor - you memorize some lines but you ought to use ad libs so as not to bore the judge.

i don't like older lawyers. they sound arrogant but they can't articulate their thoughts as refined as younger lawyers do.

Is that what its like in court when its millennials vs baby boomers? Interesting. I only remembered my dad having shit loads of books and documents that I ddint understand back then.

Maybe here in the Philippines only. The older lawyers are fond of grandstanding which doesn't sound good coz they're not even eloquent to begin with. I can't stand them... although everybody gives them respect for lasting long in the profession. It's just that I'm peeved by their grandstanding when they don't even sound refined at all.

That just means they learned how to lie less and still get the job done. They found the golden ratio between acceptable lying and efficiency. Imo that comes with age. You'll be there soon tho.

😄

I really don't know. The more I think that they've made more lies though. Lol. As for me, I'm always honest... if I have to lie, I make sure that there's no evidence to the contrary. You can't just make up stuff and later on regret that your lies just do not add up. Haven't lied in court but I once told a client to lie but made her promise to not ever do what she has done again. I told her, I'm saving your ass off this time.

Tweaking facts, presenting only from an angle suitable to the defense is already lying to me because you wilfully neglect to present the story from all angles. I doubt you've never ever done this, as a lawyer, it's basically your daily job if you're into defense litigation.

I think I will only complicate stuff if I have to present the story from all angles. I only present from the viewpoint of my client and if there are things needed to be rebutted, I do that. It's the judge's job to see all angles.

Yes, ofcourse you will only complicate things, that's a given because prosecution could use some of what you've told against you.

Look, the judge's job is to see the "truth" and give a reasonable judgement on the basis of which a sentence is given.

Your job is to influence that vision, which you do by presenting a favoured aspect of the story only, disregarding all other aspects, sometimes morally justifiably so and other times not so much.

Lawyers are called weasels because of the frequency of these "other times" and the things that are at stake (whole lives, livelihoods sometimes).

#edit: i'm not judging, i know this is what makes you win and such is the game, buti just found it silly you'd be pushing on the notion of a morally bound lawyer.

Personally, i think your grasp of English is too meagre to even understand all that was written in that post.

Now, if your glorified accountant type of lawyer job lies less at his job, kudos to you, but run of the mill lawyers have lying written in the daily itinerary.

Oh, lol. I didn't realize the last 3 pages were a part of your narrative of day-to-day activities. I just thought there would be more, umm... narrative of day-to-day activities, and less autobiographical day-to-day approach; therefore, I redact my statement of interest on this topic, as it was made in error.

I really thought I'd be doing that but I realized I want it to be more free-flowing. But I'm sure I won't be divulging classified info. Even if my client is Ands.
