Funny how a curse word here and a couple of exclamation marks there influences the tone of information coming at you, isn't it?

Anywho, needed the thread to grab attention because it's a pretty mundane one, so forgive me, Dxp Yanks.

Hehem, so now we come to THE THREA😱

I need some help. Where can I find some pictures of suburban neighbourhoods?

I'm trying to base a project in a suburban setting and my imagination is pretty sh**, so I need some visual aids.

I also need to compare the different types of suburbs based on geographical, topographical yadayadayadical characteristics and stuff for authenticity.

You know, I'm not gonna put Deer in a Miami Suburb, now, am I (are there deer in Miami? Does Miami have suburbs?! Help me out here!!!!lol)?

So:

PLACE

DEscriptION

PICTURE/LINK (if you got one)

For example:

OAKLAND.

Then underneath, your description of what the weather's like most of the year, the vegetation (trees or no?), whether there's hills or valleys (King of the Hill is set in a valley like region, isn't it?), farmlands on the outskirts, the woodland creatures to be found there (Deer), if it's beautiful, a sh** hole, whatever interested you (and would interest me lol).

You know, tell a f**king funny story relating all of the above, you know, "I got SO wasted in the Vegas burbs - which geographically is covered in Snow - and got a handjob from a Transvestite!" - whatever!

Except, be more accurate than I was above, please lol

Then underneath THAT, a picture or a link to the website if you've got one.

I'm not asking about where you live obviously for privacy reasons, but links and pixs would be appreciated. Dearly.

Oh, and I'm not being lazy? I could always do research, but America has got 52 (50?) or so states, god damn it!

I'd rather hear about them from real (sort of) people.

Than reading it off a webpage.

Which is what I'll be doing here anyway, but still f**k every last one of you who just thought that 🙂

Appreciate it, people.

I feel cheated...Used and lied to...

I opened this thread expecting to be entertained by a famous "geds (can I call you geds? The &2 is too much work and I'm lazy) rant"...

I live in Austraaaaylar too so I'm not much chop anyway 😛

lol, my apologies.

I'm actually thinking of changing the name. Maybe to something snappier like, mmmm, I don't know - Klmngfkkrr-8.

Although, typing THAT in would be way more problematic, even 4 me.

This account is gonna die soon, though.

Indiana.

Our state and state bird.

Our flag:

The neighborhoods and dynamics of Indiana are quite diverse. It spans from very poor areas and vast farm land to bustling huge cities like our capital Indianapolis. We also have one of the coolest highways on record. I-69, yehhh you heard that right.
The weather is temperamental. It is a long standing joke that we are the only state that keeps thermal underwear and shorts in the boot of the vehicle at all times.
Springs are mild and cool, edging into summer temps than can reach the 100s F. Heavy rains hit in the spring and autumn. Tornadoes during these times is not unexpected. Autumn is lush and crisp. The forests and surrounding lakes add to the beauty. Winters are usually fairly mild but can quickly get nasty. 40 below zero was the coldest I remember. It's nothing to have 30 degrees one day and the next be 10 below zero with ice storm.
The land is fairly level, the soil rich and dark.
I happen to live in a very small town. Population 600, no stop light. The only note of distinction is a local restaurant resides in what used to be the towns bank, and it was tipped over and robbed in the 1930s by a famous criminal. Other than that life is fairly quiet here. Not many upsets and it's not uncommon to see someone on horseback out for a ride if the weather is nice. We take care of each other here, look out for one another. We are not a wealthy community, but are quite a proud one. Most homes built here were erected in the very early 1900s, and some older yet when the town was first platted.

Didn't grow up in the "Burbs" hahaha, so glad I didn't ^_^. Those uppity-phony baloney people need a reality check and many of them are getting a reality check lol!!

Nope, Cappysweetie grew up in the sticks. I mean, there was a downtown area and all but you had to drive to get there and who had time for that? Not when your parents had to go to work and you had to go to school and the downtown area was far away lol!!!!

Maybe I should've call it the downtown area :/ Maybe I should call it "the city".

As I got older, we moved closer to the city and the downtown area, but you just as well say I was all grown up by then. PLUS, it was still kinda like the countryside of things lol. Nothing too fancy.

begin a thread where other users help you out with a new user name...

could be fun...

something short though, don't think too much about it...please.

What - y'all don't like my username?! Is that it? Well - hell, I think I'm gon' keep it then, b**ches!

No, seriouly though, it's more fun when people don't know who you are when you get a new username.

Plus, making a thread like that? Nnnnner, I'd feel like an egomaniac.

Still, you've give me an idea, so thanks, Throat Virus!

Uhh like this?

http://photobucket.com/images/las% 20vegas% 20suburb" target="_blank">

http://photobucket.com/images/henderson% 20nevada" target="_blank">

Ok, that is all photobucket seems to be providing me with today.

LAME PHOTOBUCKET!!

Yeeah, sort of. Just not as... Panoramic. If that's the right word.

I've nver lived in a suburb so I'm trying to create the intimacy of it.

Those little things from the POV of a child.

You know, picket fences, idenical houses, mown lawns, tree houses, lakes, camping, encounters with wild life etc

I'm trying to capture some American culture to put into this thing, and I don't want to lift it from TV.

I want actual memories from actual people.

Maybe that's what I should have asked for: your childhood memories in the 'burbs.

Like, you know, the OC is set in, um, Orange County, and the lif style plugged by the show is all decdent and stuff.

Or like One Tree Hill and Smallville, which are a lot more... rural in setting and tranquil in tone.

And lik how Desperate Housewives is set in a suburb and there's a lot of intrigue (Okay - so I may have seen one episode)

I'm trying to capture suburban lifelike DH captures but not the upscale suburbs and not from the POV of adults.

I'm trying to capture the suburbs from the pov of a child ala Calvin and Hobbes.

I need a setting and then the culture of that setting, you know, fun things to do, dangerous animals to encounter, what the weather's like etc

Or does Hollywood just sell a load of crap?

PP, that is awesome. Pick 2 and 3 are the kinds of environment I have in mind.

Tell me, what's it lik living in a Seattle suburb like te one in picture 3

Like first what the f**k are buildings like that called? Duplexes? Maisonettes?

What's the population like? Crackheads? Black people? Gangbangers? Etc?

Rich folk, middle/working class?

Animals? Squirrels, badgers?

What was it like growing up (if you DID grow up in Seattle)?

I shall save those two pix thanks so much.

Town houses. . i think.

What's the population like? Crackheads? Black people? Gangbangers? Etc?

No, most of that is in Ranier Beach. I never go over there, too ghetto and gross lol!

Rich folk, middle/working class?

Depends on which neighborhood your in. . .i grew up on Queen Anne Hill, which was mostly a rich neighborhood, but yeah, it depends on which area your in, so a combination of all three.

Animals? Squirrels, badgers?

LOTS of squirrels lol. I dont know about badgers.

What was it like growing up (if you DID grow up in Seattle)?

Fun at times. . boring at other times, you know, the typical 🙂

Thanks a lot, man. Real helpful.

Yes, I like it! I picture us all starting to ballroom dance. Keep it. So you should definitely ditch it then, because I hate it.

Ahahaha. This is like telling someone falling down won't hurt.

And then tripping them and making them break their leg.

You know - where the bone's sticking out and stuff?

Yeah - you're mean lol
