Traditional Weddings

DXP needs more luuurve.

I have a friend who recently got married. Him and his wife opted for a traditional Romanian wedding, so I thought I should show you people some pics (ok lots of pics). I went so giddy, I asked for their permission to post them on dxp lol.

I'd love to see other cultures also if you people have pics 🙂.

I swear these folks have perfect charts for stability (and fire moon fun)

Him:

Aries Sun/ Leo Moon/ Taurus Venus/ Capricorn Mars

Her:

Virgo Sun/ Sagittarius Moon/ Virgo Venus/ Virgo Mars

She has 4 planets in Virgo, he has 4 in Cap. That's marriage right there lol. (secretly cursing her sag stellium but not really 😄)

well there's a UE flag everywhere. It did start as pride of finally getting in the UE in 2007 but now I secretly suspect it's something of a "please don't abandon us guys if Putin ever decides to invade Romania".

As for our flag, it's mandatory to have it at any civil registry or institution.

They had a civil and a dress part. Just like my friends this summer.

Same here. Women usually wear cocktail dresses at the civil registry.

Ok last batch of pics.

Tradition: The "Shaving" of the groom. Men gather around him, slap shaving foam on him and then pretend to shave him. It's seen as a rites of passage into adulthood/marriage life.

Knife, Axe, Sickle...anything will do. Just stop moving buddy or we'll accidentally slit your throat.

Yes. I'd imagine our orthodox priests would have a seizure if some chick would go into the church without a white dress lol.

Second tradition (which probably will look crazy to you folks)

The kidnapping of the bride.

At some point during the night, someone (usually the groom's best man) takes the bride away and hides her someplace (nowadays they just take her to a club or restaurant or something). Then he comes back and he startes negociating with the groom for her release. You'd think he'd go easy on his best friend..nope. It's never money but huge amounts of alcohool to be bought and given to him. Imagine this weird hostage negociation thing..it's like that.

When I was really young I went to this wedding with my parents. Me and the rest of the kids were outside playing when suddenly I see this man (who was NOT the groom) run away with the bride. The idiot hid her in a car around the block.

So I go inside the restaurant straight to the groom who was ready for negocation and I start yelling "I know where she's at! You don't need to give these people money". I have no idea about the protocol.

I felt like such a helpful Virgo..imagine my shock seeing my parents mortified. lol

I got to weddings cuz of the food...other than that don't really care how they're dressed really. Any sort of gathering that has food in it is a win. Probs my taurus placement.

Blahhh screw luuurve. Make war not luuurve! 😄

Wasn't invited. We never had a solid friendship but we did run into each other over the years.

I was browing on facebook and I knew he was with this chick for a long time so I saw wedding pics. Felt like a creep asking him to let me post them lol.
