I live in a house and there has been some people regularly been visiting, stopping by at my place
..for a religious reason.. I don't know from which sector of the religion they are from (not really versed in religions or related issues..I've got no religion myself..probably interests in..though just scholarly ones)
but first one or two times I opened the door for them..and let them speak whatever they had on their minds..

then after that I did not answer the door bell, because..well..I was/and am pretty sure that whatever they're going to say, it's not going to make me have/or join their religion (..things like that really cannot be forced onto me, personally)

I received another visit from the same people while I was working at home (pt job) which I felt I had to go & answer them this time

and I did
told them in a nice tone, that..

'I'm sorry to say this, but I don't think it'd be best for you to knock on my door any more..because, well, I have no intention of having a religion of any sort, and am not going to intend on as well.. and see, if you continue coming here then it'd be more likely that you wasting your time on me -who is not going to join your church..adamant here-, and me wasting my time answering to knockings on my door and listening to what eventually would have no effects on me..also feeling quite bad about turning you guys..after you've left my door and me alone.. right?'

and then they started saying

'oh, okay..but..well..the last time we visited here you weren't here so we thought we could, might come later..and you would never know that whether you would have a change of your mind about joining our church..unless you let yourself listen to us.. so you're at home now..do you have a job? it seems sometimes you're at home and other times you're not..'

then I said

'firstly, I have no responsibility to answer your last question..that's quite personal one - whether I've got a job or not - maybe there's a possibility that one works at home..does not have to travel miles for work? .. and with the other thing you just said.. well, didn't I open my door and let you guys say what you got on your mind at your first visit.. and told you that thank you, but I was not really interested..?'

Engaging people into a discussion is a dead end in your situation. It doesn't help at all.

I had a lot of Jehova Witnesses come to my doorstep. I'd usually listen them for a bit, took the pamphlets they gave me and that was it. They saw this as encouragement so I changed my tactics.

*knock knock*
JW: Hello again, we have some different materials we'd like to show you
Virgo: Oh man, I was just going out to meet with my girlfriend. I'll see those some other time.

Their eyes grew huge and they excused themselves. Didn't come back again.

then they continued

'but we are here to help you.. you will never know when you're going to need someone's help..'

I said

'I'm not saying that you're not trying to help people..but maybe you guys need to ask if that very person you're trying to help asks..or needs any help first? what I'm trying to say here is that..we have limited time here allotted to each of us..and you're going to waste that limited of your time on me..whilst making mine wasted away..so it'd be beneficial to both of us, if you do not come here again and start speaking to someone else..'

..I don't know.. I've got nothing against people who have religions..they have the right to believe..
but then doesn't that meant that people also have the right not to believe?

I only don't like it when it comes to someone trying to force whatever their belief or system on me..without good reasonable reasons..

but then I had a bad morning today.. maybe I could've worded things better.. or... I don't know.. :/

Not rude at all. You didn't even owe them an explanation.

right..I usually just do not engage..but well ..on some of those bad days.. I tend to get engaged in...assumed useless..no end..dead-end discussion..
just to get out of my frustrations.. by doing so..(some weird psychology works behind here, I guess..)

ahh...I just need to focus on what should be done at the moment.. 😢

Jehovah's Witness?

Anyways...

Luckily in our city it is flat out illegal (city ordinance) to solicit door to door, even for religious reasons.

I flat out tell them to get off my property and leave the neighborhood or else.

I moved into a new place about a month ago..and this new place is different from the old one..
the old one was like some sort of a fortress lol with three-security guard up gates..lol require passwords and keys at each gate.. the four years I had been living there..probably just one or two incidents like this had occurred..

but now, I'm living in a different place..and this place is not much like that of fort knox the old place I used to live lol..

or else.. hahahaha it's unfortunate for me that door to door activity is not illegal here.. 😢 oh, well.. poor me lol

I personally never even open the door. I peek through the window and if it's sales men/ Jehovah witnesses I just go back to what I was doing. Why waste precious time on something you know you're not interested in anyway? Even if you tell em to eff off it'll be different people next time. I say Don't waste your energy

you're right lol

I guess I just wanted to have some verbal..whatever..psychological mechanisms work there behind the scene..thingy.. this morning.. lol I have done something similar to this..one time there was a person who stopped me on the street asking if I could help him with his survey ..researches.. and I don't know..that day, I just was feeling like I wanted to be help to any one I encounter..even a stranger..so I said yes..thinking that filling out one paper would not take up much of my time..but still helping the guy with his research.. (I conducted some surveys for my projects back in uni days and not many people were generous enough to stop by and answer a few questionnaire..)

..later only to find out that this person was trying to trick me into buying his pseudo science..or whatever stuff..
I felt (somewhat) betrayed..for my good intention in helping him.. lol (but well, thinking back.. it was my fault..or partially my fault that me being too gullible? or something?)
I picked on his every words, dissecting his claims..why his pseudo science is a bs..

..in another word...I wasted both my time and the guy's lol ...even being aware of it.. stupid me lol..

I try not to engage in fruitless, pointless discussion..but sometimes I cannot help..lol bad days I have..and I am human..

but you're right..I just will have to try more not to waster my energy! hehehehe

Jehovas witness really is like a cult religion, you MUST follow blindly and believe in jehova, the stronger your faith in him the better a jehova you are, but my dads like a cool jehova because he went off the rails and turned into an alcoholic so he knows how to have fun now and then??_.lol cool jehovah!

lol your father sounds like a cool JW to be around!

I used to have heated discussion on religion with one of my ex-es.. he's religious..and I was not, just like now I am.. it was all good discussion...both of us knowing that it'd get us nowhere.. lol

It's not blind faith and you don't know much about JW's in saying that, they have a direction and can answer any question you raise through the bible.

They are doing what they feel they are asked to do like in Noah's days when he also went door to door to warn people of the impending disaster.

There's no need to be rude, just simply ask them to put you on their "Do not call" list.

They don't force things onto people and just want to spread their good news around.

My ex-husband and all his family are JW's and my daughter and I studied with them for 3 years before making my own decision.

13:12-15, if you find that the people in the city you're visiting worship another god, you have to kill them all??_..was one of the weird things in the bible that I was discussing with dad??_.and I said do you think this is ok—_.and he said if god says so then yes??_.I see this is following blindly.

He feels as strongly about being a jehovah's witness as I do being me, and I respect that??_..Sometimes we are both rude about each others beliefs??_.but we both respect that each of us need to believe in what we believe to live our lives right so yeh.

Eleventh, I don't know that scripture but it sounds like something out of the old testament BC. The bible is a huge book which is split into 2 that does not contradict itself but also takes some teaching to understand how it goes back and forth. Your father may not understand how to do this, depending how long he has studied and to what extent he is in "The Truth"

If he blindly says yes then that is him only and he could research and find answers or talk to someone that has more experience however, he may also feel you are just looking to battle it out and it could be pointless if you aren't really about listening and learning but rather just want to debate with him. What real point is that?

And I never ever feel bad.

There are dirtbags that will go around acting under the guise of religious missionaries who's only goal is to scope out your home as a potential burglary/home invasion target.

THIS!! Be careful. In the past year there has been an increase in fake contractors or missionaries In Vegas doing break ins/home invasions. There is also a fake cable guy hitting homes when the boyfriends/husbands leave and attacking women. Never open your door if you are alone.

Sweetheart, honey, darling??_..the book itself is a contradiction ??_??_Yes It does say it in the new testament and thats what christians did back in the old day to make themselves the majority it was necessary to make it the religion it is today the bible is full of contradictions..??_.I see you studied with them for 3 years, my dad has been one all his life??_.

even when he was disfellowshiped he still got his bible out at the table when he was drunk and preached. I am happy that my father is now in the church and has remarried a jehovah woman... because without it he go way off the rails. I know so many off rail jehovahs its not funny, and when i say off rail I mean they are junkies, in abusive relationships or at nightclubs getting their tits out??_..Its like they are trying to be the baddest they can be??_.to show that satan has them

I'm not trying to fight my dad and its not a battle at all when we have our discussions there is no way that I would want to shake his belief in his religion, just like he knows he doesn't want me to stop believing in who i am

..lol I had my monthly visitors yesterday. The first time they showed up I would only talk to them through the window/screen, it was in July. After I asked them to identify themselves, I told them "before we go any further, I want you to know this is my religion, and nothing you say or visits you make will change that". They were very kind, and after six visits now (including yesterdays) respect my boundries..they stay outside and we have some nice chats about the world & the way it is today. Sometimes we talk about a subject, and then I'll let them read short scriptures. I don't mind. However, yesterday they informed me that some nut jobs (A satanic group unveiled designs Monday for a 7-foot-tall statue of Satan it wants to put at the Oklahoma state Capitol, where a Ten Commandments monument was placed in 2012.

—The statue will also have a functional purpose as a chair, where people of all ages may sit on the lap of Satan for inspiration and contemplation,?? said Lucien Greaves, a co-founder of the Satanic Temple, which is behind the unusual proposal."

I'm sorry...but that ^^^is simply messed up. When I read the book by Steven King "The Stand", I related so well to that and to this day insist the concept of that book is what is going on today in this country/world. Good against evil.

My response to them as I am pretty forward and tend to shock them, (after they told me about this and before I looked it up) was.."well...I find positive in this" (the lady has these cool eyebrows she can't control..it's kinda cute)..I said at least good people can identify those who support it". They both smiled and agreed. We went on to chat about greed (another favorite subject of mine..and then Marijuana..) I stopped them again and reminded them that seed was put down here for a reason. Yet they had a good point about the greed that goes with it.

Sorry for rambling...but I'd rather have these people at my door instead of some Satanic cult.
